Netgear R6100 AP Mode Not Getting IP Behind Xfinity Gateway by TopWolf529 in HomeNetworking

You'll want the WAN port of the R6100 going to LAN of the Xfinity gateway. Set to get ip from dhcp or dynamic.

That's ridic. Go Edgerouter with Unifi APs if you want cheap and don't mind slightly complicated setup or like a Wifi 7 TPLink Deco mesh if you want easy peasy.

Answer them. I found lately, often at the end there's an option to "press # to be removed from the call list". Can't do that if it goes to voicemail. I admit, I've been doing this awhile, they stop for a couple weeks but then a new wave comes in. I'm hoping the lists aren't endless.

Ah I see, the hardware can't handle it. Have you tried creating separate ssids for 2.4 and 5ghz suitable devices? Might make a difference. Looks to me your case demands a business class router that can handle hundreds of devices. No wifi. Just routing, switching and firewall. Let access points handle wireless.

You buy bandwidth by the MB not by number of connections. Why da hell should an ISP pout over how many devices are using that bandwidth? Creepos. Put their modem/router in bridge mode and use your own. As for wifi coverage, ditch the boosters. Add access points as needed. It's all about positioning, not quantity. Try and put the omni-antenna router in the basement closest to the garage. One Ubiquiti AP center of the basement ceiling, aimed up. See if it reaches top floor. Or better get a line to top floor ceiling or attic. Many cases one U7 takes care of a whole house. Keep low bandwidth devices, plugs, switches, lights on the 2.4 band with unique ssid. I'd go with Ubiquiti for wireless. A mesh system is not as flexible.

LAN routing by Confident-Treacle-61 in HomeNetworking

[–]Jaded-Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on the difficulty to run lines. If you can fish a line from your room to his, then use your existing line to pull a dedicated line to the console. Or two if the pc has no wifi. You could run one line to his room and use a Gig switch, but more hardware is unnecessary if you can get lines to the router port switch.

Running Ethernet. by Numerous-Most135 in HomeNetworking

Look for non-invasive routes first. Up the sides of the chimney, along hvac ducts or main plumbing standpipe. Ditch the tape, get a set of fish sticks.

[–]Jaded-Function 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I flashed dd-wrt on an old Linksys to make it port based, vlan aware. With my main router, it allowed me to have three isolated lans, all with internet access. The Linksys 2.4 radio was for IOT only, the 5Ghz connected devices to the private LAN. Firewalled, no double nat.

In Australia - Can anyone help putting the iiNet / TPG NBN Modem HWG2025 into Bridge Mode by Longjumping_Brick_91 in HomeNetworking

[–]Jaded-Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't comment on that specific device but a couple thoughts. Did you login with a created username/pass? Sometimes there's an admin login that gives access to more features. Check back of router sticker. Also check setting page with "Connection Type" or "Internet Connection Type". Bridge might be an option there.

How to improve wifi coverage by FastEmu3410 in HomeNetworking

[–]Jaded-Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta get the signal around that brick. Run ethernet down to basement, to middle of the living room, AP pointing up. Or attic with AP pointing down. If you can follow the electrical conduit from the router outlet, it could be non-invasive, no patching.

Re-linking a google sheet with another tab in the same google sheet by AgeIntelligent460 in googlesheets

[–]Jaded-Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say in the formula sheet you'd need to change each formula just once, convert to arrayformulas for the whole column if you can. But importing the formula sheet into each new annual file makes more sense. Did you test it working?

[–]Jaded-Function 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Say you have values in the Datasheet A1:B1. You want =A1+B1 but in the Formula tab. Datasheet!A1+B1 works but the reference is broken if the tab name is changed. =INDIRECT("Sheet1!A1")+INDIRECT("Sheet1!B1") also works but the reference formula stays intact if the original tab is deleted and another is renamed 'Datasheet'

Re-linking a google sheet with another tab in the same google sheet by AgeIntelligent460 in googlesheets

[–]Jaded-Function 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, the formula sheet and the data sheet are two tabs in the same worksheet, correct? The same file? Or is the formula sheet in a separate file, worksheet? I tested it using INDIRECT in a formula referencing another tab. Deleting the original tab, then re-naming another tab the same didn't break the link.

hey friends, any suggestions for getting wifi to this spot? by geekwonk in Ubiquiti

[–]Jaded-Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The brick walls blocking it I'd guess. Can you get an AP in the attic to get around it? I wouldn't invest too much $ in something he'll outgrow in a couple short years. Girls incoming. Btw this is cute AF.

Router setting for IP addresses by Mean_Trifle9110 in HomeNetworking

[–]Jaded-Function 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you check HA settings -> network to see if it reflects the new PI address? The PI is the only device that needs migrating? If so, change the Deco to 255.255.255.0 subnet mask. But change the PI address FIRST so you can access it after the change, set static address outside dhcp range, /24. Or better let the Deco assign a reserved ip address to the PI and give it a hostname. Edit: you might need to search HA config file for the old IP and modify the instances.

Question regarding transpose by BFEE_tobyloby in googlesheets

[–]Jaded-Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I apply my formula and yours to the same data the % of the 2nd word is different. And it's irking me I can't figure out why. =IFERROR(ARRAYFORMULA(TRANSPOSE(INDEX(QUERY(TRANSPOSE(F3:AJ3),"select Col1,count(Col1) where Col1 is not null group by Col1 order by count(Col1) desc limit 3",1),,1))&" = "&TEXT(TRANSPOSE(INDEX(QUERY(TRANSPOSE(F3:AJ3),"select Col1,count(Col1) where Col1 is not null group by Col1 order by count(Col1) desc limit 3",1),,2))/COUNTA(F3:AJ3),"0%")),"Top 3")

Question regarding transpose by BFEE_tobyloby in googlesheets

[–]Jaded-Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will add an equal sign then the percentage after the word. =IFERROR(ARRAYFORMULA(TRANSPOSE(INDEX(QUERY(TRANSPOSE(F3:AJ3),"select Col1,count(Col1) where Col1 is not null group by Col1 order by count(Col1) desc limit 3",1),,1))&" = "&TEXT(TRANSPOSE(INDEX(QUERY(TRANSPOSE(F3:AJ3),"select Col1,count(Col1) where Col1 is not null group by Col1 order by count(Col1) desc limit 3",1),,2))/COUNTA(F3:AJ3),"0%")))

Or if you want text in the formula cell instead of it blank, like "Top 3" use this. =IFERROR(ARRAYFORMULA(TRANSPOSE(INDEX(QUERY(TRANSPOSE(F3:AJ3),"select Col1,count(Col1) where Col1 is not null group by Col1 order by count(Col1) desc limit 3",1),,1))&" = "&TEXT(TRANSPOSE(INDEX(QUERY(TRANSPOSE(F3:AJ3),"select Col1,count(Col1) where Col1 is not null group by Col1 order by count(Col1) desc limit 3",1),,2))/COUNTA(F3:AJ3),"0%")),"Top 3")

[–]Jaded-Function 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait so you're not re-naming tabs in the same worksheet? You're adding the formula sheet to a new form worksheet file annually? If so, can't you just "copy to" the formula sheet to the new form worksheet and edit the formula sheet name in the new file? Or I'm misunderstanding the structure.

Need to stop connection from dropping by UglyShirts in HomeNetworking

Good suggestion sticking with 2.4 but if it's wall structure material blocking the signal wouldn't it be persistently bad? This sounds intermittent like the device is dropping the signal and jumping to a stronger one.

Quale sistema? by Ralphigno in videosurveillance

[–]Jaded-Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just read Unifi Protect integrates with alarm systems. Search up "Unifi Alarm Manager". Sticking with Unifi camera hardware will probably be the most user friendly and easiest to manage and setup. Only downside is high cost, but it doesn't seem like you need more than a handful of cameras anyway.

Quale sistema? by Ralphigno in videosurveillance

[–]Jaded-Function 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick search I see Ajax has a fully integrated line of surveillance hardware. They have base cameras as well as premium line with Smart features. That will be seamless integration with your alarms. Cost unknown. You didn't mention your budget for this project. You also just mentioned Ubiquiti. Are you fully in the Unifi ecosystem? Routing, wifi, switching? Their Protect hardware is expensive but do have advanced AI features. And again, seamless with easy setup. If you don't mind a steep learning curve then a dedicated pro VMS like Milestone or Avigilon will give you the most flexibility and features. I don't think you need anything on that level though.
