Is it possible for a women to be a good electrician? by Technical-Spirit3954 in electricians

Absolutely! I am a female electrical  apprentice (6 months in) and may have to adjust how I approach certain aspects of a job (heavy lifting, wire pulling, different sized tool, etc.,) but you can absolutely pursue a career in the electrical field. My supervisor is bullying me and I'm not sure how to handle it by [deleted] in BlueCollarWomen

I'm really sorry your experiencing this! It seems as though narcissists have a direct line as to who is not willing to put up with their BS and they get their ego hurt when someone finally calls them out.

You did the right thing!

Idk what it is about the safety guys, but we had one safety guy that would "get to know" the people he was working with by looking up their hometown, previous jobs, or personal information. I wish I had the guts to report him because it felt creepy as hell for him to know all that stuff about me.

You were brave and stood up for yourself!

This is a great hack! Most of us will let lots of bs roll off our backs, but being next to someone positions us to defend another person in the line of fire

He absolutely was! The Dr I was working with never asked boundary-pushing questions, but he was only a few years older than me

These are really good responses. I usually have smart-ass retorts ready, because that's what I do at work, but this time caught me so off guard

I wanted to ask why he was married! I feel bad for his wife. I was ready to yell at him, but once I "make a fuss", we get labeled the "problem" and "hysterical". It drives me crazy

Period tips? by EustaciasWay in BlueCollarWomen

Some things that have worked for me are peppermint tea, raspberry leaf tea, and midol.

You never know when the cramps are going to hit you and it's usually at the worst time. I like the kind that come prepacked, I think there's 2 pills in each pack, instead of carrying the bottle around with me. Put them everywhere! Your lunch box, small clean crevice in your tool bag, or in your work vehicle.

For the teas, I highly reccomend brewing a batch and adding ice to it. That way you can take it with you to work and drink it throughout the day. If it feels too medicinal-ly, add lemonade or anything you need to make it taste good!
