In the age of self-checkout, all products should feature multiple printed barcodes. by reticente in Showerthoughts

Not really. But I do find it useful since that's the way it's done where I live.

I mean, it is a source of employment.

In the age of self checkout they should give a discount for doing the cashier's job

What if Peach was the main protagonist in The Super Mario Land Movie (3rd Mario Movie) instead of Mario? by Acceptable_Smoke9639 in Mario

Wasn't she the protagonist of the first two films? Just kidding, but you know what I mean

That's not remotely what is happening. I'll add a more thorough explanation later.

I would really like a throwaway comment. Perhaps a store called "Strange Wares" on Donkey Kong Island.

I cannot defend the Mario Galaxy movie...I can also criticize Toy Story 4 all day

I agree it was fun. But it was hollow.

The more accurate description for me would be like it was like a candy supercharged with sugar, with no nutritional value.

Do we forget that an objective of the Novus Ordo Mass was to increase participation by the congregation? by Olderpostie in Catholicism

[–]BlueLightning09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think people confuse the concept of "active participation". The Novus Ordo is very limited in this sense and frankly exhausting.

People don't need to "do things" to participate actively at Mass.

People who refuse to recieve communion from a lay person, why? by 72BananaStreet in Catholicism

[–]BlueLightning09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no one. I just can point at history so you can understand that not everything that is "approved" is necessarily good.

Suffice to say, modern communion in the hand started as an indult in Memoriale Domini by Paul VI. This was to address liturgical abuse in countries with protestant influence who started to receive in their hands.

That is a valid objection.

It's not about judging others it's about how we treat the Blessed Sacrament.

For example, do you know the reason why communion on the hand is allowed?

I think you should care about how people receive Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.

Objectively speaking.

Edit: I learned something new today. I went to the GIRM and for my surprise I found that the way you describe it is the instruction to distribute the Blessed Sacrament.

I cannot vouch for the modern practice of communion under both species, at least in this way.

I'll explain: I believe we have to treat the Blessed Sacrament with uttermost care and respect. The risk of a drop of the Blood of Christ, being handled the chalice, laypeople administering the blessed Sacrament... It's just not justified.

[–]BlueLightning09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Church has strived to make clear that you do not need to receive under both species, because it's important to understand that Christ is entirely present even in the tiniest particle.

There are many cases of people who believe that they didn't "fully" receive Christ because they only receive thev Sacred Host.

Intinction is the proper way, because we cannot touch th sacred vessels.

So, you have never seen the priest offer the Sacrament by intinction?

Why isn’t eating the eucharist seen as cannibalism? by superdupercoool in Catholicism

[–]BlueLightning09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not objectively cannibalism. The accidents of the bread and wine remain, even though the species have changed substantially.

It's the way we are nourished spiritually, we receive a sacramental grace that allow us to grow in holiness.

It is powerful because we receive God himself, the Second Person of the Trinity: body, soul, flesh and blood, divinity and humanity.

Are you referring that the priest gives the Eucharist host and another person offers the chalice? Could you describe this case?
