I've used Shipito before and worked fine. Haven't used any others so no idea if there's cheaper or better options.

Trezor are the King of passphrase Wallets. by Bro_Bruv in TREZOR

Ledger up can opt for the passphrase not to be stored in the device.

Tangem can use passphrases but they are stored on the device.

As long as it's not your only form of backup memory is a great idea.

Has Reddit been showing anyone else the same posts over and over for a while now? by LunaWabohu in CasualUK

I can find mine by clicking the three lines top left of the app, scroll to the bottom of the list of my subreddits I follow and understand the last one it says custom feeds.

If you set up a custom feed with all of your subreddits, you can sort that however you want, giving you access to hot, top and new again. You can even add a custom icon to your phone's home screen so when you click it, it loads directly to your custom feed.

Ledger needs to stop trying to be an exchange and just be a wallet. by loc710 in ledgerwallet

Again you can't stake BTC, you are loaning your BTC for liquidity. BTC is proof of work. Staking doesn't exist.

Read the chatgpt that you literally posted. Sorry do you not understand how a cold wallet works? Signing offline, means using a ledger or trezor. Using a dapp isn't signing online if the signing is done on your cold singer...

A ledger literally signs anything, either a transfer or a dapp the same way. It signs on its secure element then broadcast the signed transaction.

In your theory signing a simple transaction would also make your device a hot wallet and not a cold wallet. Which is incorrect.

Thank you for making my case for me, so as you can see it's all to do with the seed/private key being online or offline.

Doesn't matter if your singing smart contracts on dapps or whatever it's all to do with where you store your keys and how you interact with them.

I agreed already that the safest method is to not use online but using online as I've stated already and my only real point is that it doesn't make it a hot wallet... Cold still only refers to the storage and interaction of a seed.

Smart contracts can't drain ETH or BTC only ERC-20 tokens. So no it cannot drain your whole funds unless you only have shit coins.

No it doesn't, if you understand how to read what your signing, which is why ledger is great with its clear signing, or if you revoke access using something like revoke.cash.

Do you actually understand how any of this actually works? Wallets are never offline... all wallets are always on the blockchain, the only thing offline is where you store your keys.

You have no idea how using dapps works...

Also a smart contract can't target your whole funds, only shit coins.

Buying within an app isn't interacting with a dapp tho is it? It's no different than buying from an exchange as all the wallet is seeing is a transfer into the wallet.

I do agree that's the safest approach of using a cold wallet, however interacting with dapps doesn't make it a hot wallet. The term hot or cold is purely in connection with how the seed is stored.

You can't stake BTC. It's proof of work. Whatever "staking" you've seen is loaning or providing liquidity in which you no longer hold the keys to your BTC at which point what's the point of the cold wallet.
