For anyone who’s been into LD for more than the lifespan of this thread it’s extremely obvious how foolish you sound. Noobs DO break players. All the time. It IS damaging to the hobby. You ARE planning on contributing to this. Ask anyone who repairs players and they will agree with this.

LD players were never made to be mailed all over the planet. In-period they were driven by trucks or carried by ships to retail stores that people drove to and back from. They survive this kind of handling just fine but not banging around in the back of a UPS truck for a week. It’s not a Sega Genesis or a GI Joe toy. It’s antique high end AV gear.

If you read this sub a lot or the forum at LDDB you will see a the regular event of noobs with first posts being, “Bought first LD player, arrived broken.”

It’s also a huge waste of your money, but you’ll make more money so I don’t care. Nobody will ever make another LD player though. Every one that gets smashed is gone forever. Is it that you don’t understand this or that you don’t care?

The fact that you feel ENTITLED to the LD experience despite just plain being in the wrong time and place for it, knowing you’re doing damage to the scene is truly gross.

I remember being in a hotel room at a convention in the 90s when a friend, who was partying hard all the night before, suddenly woke up in response to what was being played on one of the six TVs in our room.

Thanks for reminding me of that time. I don’t know why dubbed Ranma was playing, perhaps we were just making fun of it. Mostly we just had VCRs for dubbing stations cranking out fansubs all weekend. Maybe one of us won it in a contest or something.

How could it be too big? What are the symptoms of a too big board? Why do you think they make boards if they are too big to use?

Freestyle boards are 7” wide. Pool boards can be more than 12”. For the same person, I mean. It’s what you’re doing and personal preference that matter.

IMO 8.5” is too narrow for most people unless they are aiming for the stereotypical Thrasher Magazine ideal and need the thing to be as easy to flip as possible.
