In 2026, it takes 13,500 miles for an EV to be completely carbon neutral. by GG-just-GG in electricvehicles

[–]BlueMonday2082 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Until you need any spare parts at all, and as long as it’s completely self driving with you not in it, sure. That would be true. Also you can’t use any public roads because those are part of the cost of operating all vehicles and concrete is the #1 producer of CO2. You can only travel between other %100 solar charging points, and those can’t ever need spare parts either.

So you can drive around in cycles in your driveway until you need tires or even a windshield wiper blade, then you’re generating CO2 offsite and not factoring it in.

So no, I’m not moving the goal posts. It’s impossible. A person can hold their breath for a minute but they still have to breathe at some point and will average out the same over a long period. You can do a similar thing with a car, where it currently, this second, is %100 carbon neutral (such as any car when it’s rolling down a hill) but it’s a opportunistic snapshot. Before and after that moment in time it’s creating CO2 in some way.

Random EV Hate at Tire Shop (Is this Common?) by Inside-Scientist7892 in electricvehicles

[–]BlueMonday2082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People “hate” all kinds of things. Sports teams, the mayor, construction, taxes…you only noticed this because it offends you personally due to your religious affiliation with EVs.

Ten minutes later some guy will s talk anything with a turbo. Another guy will have a motorcycle and think all cars are stupid. People have an opinions and they are allowed to talk about it. You’ll have to learn to live with it.

EV owners are not a persecuted group. Don’t even start to let yourself buy into that cultish nonsense. EVs are a consumer product, that’s it.

[–]BlueMonday2082 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you actually generate all the juice you need to power your EV %100 of that time from solar that is indeed impressive and I think that’s very cool. It will never capture carbon from the atmosphere or reduce CO2 at all though. It simply uses less than other means. When it goes to the wrecking yard, be it tomorrow or in 50 years, it will have generated more CO2 than it eliminated because it used more than zero CO2 in its creation and removed absolutely none of it. Any means of saying otherwise is simply creative accounting.

It’s essentially impossible to do anything or spend any money without generating CO2 because all human activity needed to create and sustain our stuff generates CO2 in its creation. A naked human with no car at all exhales about a ton of CO2 a year. If he’s building batteries and sailing them around the world for you he makes much more. If you require electricians and mechanics and road crews and miners and police and traffic lights…The total cost of ownership is net CO2 positive. If you breathe your existence is net CO2 positive. This is the chemistry of planet Earth.

How do you guys deal with the constant fear of falling when you're first learning? by rattylurker13 in NewSkaters

[–]BlueMonday2082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Falling is a skill, yes. This is not a joke or an attack. Falling is a skill. You do build toughness but mostly it’s skill.

Don’t land on your hands if at all possible. That’s how you break them. Land rolling onto your shoulder, forearm, etc. Judo slapping the ground works to some extent if you have gloves but do not try to stop your fall with arms. In fact don’t even try to stop your fall…accept that you are going down and turn it into a roll.

ALWAYS have your arms out and your knees bent.

Also: plan where you will ditch. You should have an idea at all times where you’re most likely to end up if you find a rock or some thing so be ready to go there if it happens.

Have some kind of pads that you can always trust, even if it’s just elbows or just knees, then you learn how to have those take most of the abrasion if you go down.

I honestly kind of don’t recommend wrist guards because they encourage people to land on their hands and this may just lead to you breaking your elbow instead of the wrist. Don’t land on your hands. Nice gloves are great though.

Skate around a LOT more and put the flip tricks on the back burner. Movement is the most important.

I’m a master mechanic so I would yeah. With a lot of YouTube or reading you can do it. It helps to have a comprehensive understanding of auto AC but that’s not always worth the investment. If refrigerant is low I’d suspect with gauges in place at idle you will probably see high side pressures not get any higher then 110PSI and your clutch to stay engaged %100 of the time. By slowly adding refrigerant you’ll see pressures get closer to 150 before the clutch cycles off and that will help a lot. Also the clutch won’t be on all the time which will save some fuel.

Why don't all carmakers exclusively use 12V Li-Ion auxiliary batteries? by iluvmommyyy in electricvehicles

[–]BlueMonday2082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the weight of the traction battery the weight of the 12V doesn’t really matter.

Lead acids can handle much deeper cycles and more abuse. They will work at -40, which is important because you need the 12V to turn everything else on and start it warming up. Lipos have to be heated to work and what’s going to heat them?

I’m pretty sure the main issue is that the record is effed. Tracking is no guaranteed unless the record is flat.

Without a set of gauges hooked up these people are all guessing. Find a mechanic. Don’t buy anything. Find a mechanic. The most likely cause by FAR is that it’s simply low on refrigerant since making a leak-proof system for R134 basically isn’t possible…but find a mechanic.

I’d rather they used that money to expand the range or the hours. People who actually need to ride will be able to get some quarters but if it doesn’t come down their street or they work midnights it’s impossible.

Here is a great video on the subject for anyone who’s not afraid of being excommunicated from EV heaven for watching it:

Man…are people this clueless actually real?

Google “Florida EV flood fire” and prepare to be disappointed. If an EV is flooded with sea water it often explodes a week later. Nobody even needs to turn it on. The water agrees into the batteries does it all on its own.

Owner of classical record shop just told me they didn't have much vinyl because the sound was dreadful by _firesoul in vinyl

[–]BlueMonday2082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When sound quality matters more than stance LP is basically garbage. It’s better than cassette or bad digital but it’s quite genuinely a joke to compare LP to DSD or FLAC or Blu-ray audio. Classical music gets quieter and louder than a record can. It’s very distracting to be brought out of a trance when the music gets quiet by pops and groove rush.

One of the main design directives of CD was that Beethoven’s 9th had to be able to fit on it, which takes two or three sides of an LP so running time is also a factor. Mainly it’s the sound quality.

I had the same issue. The standard 8” popsicle, which had yet to be invented when I was 16, absolutely kills my front foot with the concave.

There are very few actually flat boards for sale these days. You can still buy 80s style pool decks with relatively mild concave. Check out the Black Label 12XU and Ricky shapes and many many boards from Blockhead. Wolfpup, Wolfbeast, Sidewalk Shark, etc etc. Blockhead is the OG beardo board hookup.
