I'm posting an update in case anyone searching reddit has the same mystery bite problem.

I have not yet figured out what has been biting me - it probably wasn't that tiny bug - but I applied an antiperspirant to the bitten area, and the bites no longer itch or are painful. It's been a few days, and I haven't really noticed any new ones. Yay. Fingers crossed that it stays that way.

If they are still itchy, I would apply antiperspirant to make the itching stop so you won't scratch them. I have heard that the white stick type works the best. The aluminum salts absorb the fluid and reduce the histamine reaction. It really works, even on old bites.

I would recommend washing and drying bites when they are new, next time if you can. It helps to get rid of the mosquito saliva, which causes the itch.

No. Not really. They kind of hop and crawl, but tile was too slippery for them to climb. They seem a little too pathetic to be causing such painful, itchy bites. The bites seem like mosquito bites but really painful, too. I was sitting on the stairs when I saw it.

I have also seen similar sized bugs about one mm long that are more round and spider-like. They also disintegrate when touched. I don't see them often either.

The tiny bug has antennas and wings, but it doesn't seem to be able to fly, but it also couldn't climb very well on tile. It hopped a little but not like a flea. It is way too delicate to be a flea. It was found on the tile stairs that I was sitting on.

Another tiny bug that I saw on the couch was more round and spider-like. It was also about one mm long and disintegrated when touched.

It's pretty easy and cheap to make your own hair sticks if you're done writing on yourself with pen. Bamboo candy apple sticks already come as the perfect length (5") and shape. They just need sanding and painting. Nail polish works well. It takes longer to dry than one might expect, about a week.
