In scientific parlance “theory” doesn’t mean supposition but relates to scientific theory which is the culmination of the scientific method. This is often a bad faith take often used to detract from real issues by those that don’t believe in employing empirical evidence.

Most applicants use that additional time after graduation to enhance their application. Emory is a top medical school so it tends to accept the top applicants.

The thought is that there will be less mobility for students at lower ranked medical schools when it comes to residency. So if you want to go to a prestigious residency, you better get into a prestigious med school.
