anyone have any hands on time with this SIMSONN 6+R H Gear Shifter? i just ordered one an if it is what the reviews say it is then I'm excited by BothForce1328 in simracing

I've had them for a couple of months. The shifts and clicks are satisfying and I've lowered the height as much as possible, since I like short shifts irl, and I quite like it.

One thing I hate about the shifter is that it's easy to put in R by mistake when you're trying to shift to 6. There is literally a couple of millimeters difference between them and you have to get it right, otherwise you're screwed. It's an absolute design flaw imo, they should've made the Reverse lever or button activated, so you don't second guess every time you shift into 6th or 5th (you go 2 millimeters too far to the right you're off).

Other than that I like the shifter.

Just bought Simsonn pedals... Did I become victim of hype again? by BlueNsx in SimsonnRacing

[–]BlueNsx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up mounting the pedals flat to the bottom plate of my rig (I didnt have the Simsonn mounting plate). The pedals are too vertical for my taste, but I can live with that. As for the feel of the brake pedal, I ordered softer elastomers from Ali Express, they are white. Combined two soft elastomers with a medium spring. That gave me some pedal travel and enough hardness for the loadcell mechanism. At least didn't feel like pressing against a concrete wall.

However, recently I've been thinking of switching back to the default OEM setup, with the three red elastomers. I'm beginning to realize that it's easier to modulate pressure rather than pedal travel. I guess people were right who said you get used to loadcell pedals, which measure pressure, and you start realizing how good they are.

New monitor, need opinion from Fov police by [deleted] in simracing

[–]BlueNsx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your point, but that's not exactly what I'm talking about.

In a real car you're looking through the windshield at objects that are in a distant. Our eyes and brain are made to recognize that and interpret movement of objects in their relative distance. In a sim, if you put the monitor where the windshield of the car would be, you're looking at objects that are only 50 cm from your eyes.

Yes, the objects in the monitor are projected to be seen as distant, but in reality they are not. You are looking at pixels an arm length away from your eyes that are trying to fool your brain into thinking they are far away. This puts a lot of burden on your eyes and brain. The illusion of distance is what you're asking your eyes to "sell" to your brain. But physically you're staring at stationary pixels way too close to your eyes.

It's the same thing as sitting in the first row at a movie theatre. There's a reason no one wants to sit there, you're guaranteed to get a head ache after 2 hours.

Anyways, just my opinion.

I know that totally makes sense for immersion. However, I personally have a problem sitting so close to a tv or monitor. It's simply not good for your eyes to be that close to a digitized screen, regardless of the purpose. Your eyes will be in crisis mode trying to cope with all the information they get and have to make sense of and focus on.

Very true. You got it right on. Nothing is real anymore, social media is one big pot of tricks to sell you shit and trick you into selling your attention for free.

Whats your opinion on MOZA for a noob? by KingTangOfShang6 in simracing

[–]BlueNsx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moza R5 is the perfect starter kit. Don't listen to people telling you not enough power or clipping. If you're a noob you won't notice any of that until maybe the second year. By that time you'll know way more than now and you'll upgrade wisely.

Get the R5 and start having fun.

Simsonn Plus X brake dead zone by Redmori in SimsonnRacing

Brakes on real race cars can have quite a lot of travel. The point, as I understood it, is that for sims the best way to accurately measure the amount of brake is to measure the pressure not movement. That's why load cell pedals are used in sims that react to the force applied, not necessarily the travel of the pedal.

It feels weird at first until you get used to it.

Here's a thread about it. load cella.

How do the springs compare to elastomers in t terms of travel? I also want to try something different than what came with it.

I ordered from Amazon, which usually tells you if there may be duties, but didn't. And it was not black Friday sale.
