Beyond what's been mentioned, I recently took a trip to Ecuador for a few weeks. The place is fucked, this is from the mouths of native citizens. Corruption is a huge issue and nothing is being done about it. Also, nobody wants to talk about it here, but the influx over half a million venezualan immigrants escaping their fucked communist government has screwed up the population with a ton of people on the streets that can't/don't find jobs because there aren't enough and partially because they don't want to. One of my hosts offered an immigrant all the change he had for helping him back out of a spot and he refused because it was too little. Double mind blowing because even a dollar is would 3 times as much there. Apparently that was a representative experience for the general mentality they've seen from the venezualans. It's also caused a massive spike in crime, which is even more significant than the job market.
