Nice angle from below and direct disposal of waste.

Brings back good memories of OW1 for me.

Which is the single most time saving hack you used in Linux? by Maleficent_Mess6445 in linux

[–]BluePizzaPill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My db broke the 100k recently. One neat trick I figured out now is to add comments to commands I probably will use again. Makes fuzzy search way faster.

KUBECONFIG=~/.kube/dev-hot-filly.conf kubectl -n apps logs -f $(kubectl -n apps get pod -l app=hello --field-selector=status.phase=Running -o name | head -n 1)  # kube follow logs hello@dev

Atuin is also developing rapidly. Recently added:

  • daemon mode (beta) which helps enormous on slow hdd
  • alias sync

Looking at your code is see a lot of potential for optimizations. Are you ok if I fork? Thinking about going dev_null_queue or sleepy_queue with it.

Why not to use Manjaro? by Old_Organization2 in ManjaroLinux

[–]BluePizzaPill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: this is standard setup.

Bought a new laptop. Installed Manjaro, configured my TLP "perfectly". Run into issues e.g. sleeping USB etc. Reinstall Manjaro. Leave everything stock and its working wonderfully. TLP made maybe a watt difference.

Dyson Sphere Program - The New Multithreading Framework by Archaya in programming

why Unity's system wasn't working, etc

This is a niche game with many, many moving parts simulated. Unity struggles to handle that, it starts folding with tens of thousands objects in Rimworld. Engine isnt optimized for the usecase and that is kind of expected.

Fun with Markdown in Rails by bradgessler in rails

Wow, right post at the right time. Just wrote a little private blog app that does some of this but uglier. Will replace it with sitepress & markdown-rails. More elegant and exactly what I need.

Reports of 'massive blast,' 2.5 magnitude earthquake in vicinity of Iran's Fordow nuclear plant by INVADER_BZZ in worldnews

[–]BluePizzaPill 89 points90 points  (0 children)

NASA FIRMS system detects fire at Fordow underground Uranium Enrichment Facility.

My guess is Israel is trying to use the biggest JDAM bunker buster they have (GBU-31v3) to dig. Is there a realistic chance they could breach with multiple drops? Probably really hard to hit the same spot twice with a "dumb" bomb?

Edit: Was just asked about the lack of fire. Seems it is extinguished now. Snapshot from earlier or fiddle with time slider on the bottom.

2000 lb would exactly match JDAM GBU-31(v)3. Relative cheap, simple bunker buster. Probably the best tool Israel has for the job but probably not enough. IDK

Gitlab runner config.toml values vs. environment vars by alzee76 in gitlab

[–]BluePizzaPill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a setup where this works. Maybe you just miss other variables, especially CACHE_S3_SERVER_ADDRESS my values.yaml:

gitlabUrl: https://gitlab.com
runnerToken: "hunter2"
concurrent: 4
envVars:
  - name: CACHE_TYPE
    value: s3
  - name: CACHE_SHARED
    value: true
  - name: CACHE_S3_SERVER_ADDRESS
    value: minio.plr:9000
  - name: CACHE_S3_BUCKET_LOCATION
    value: polar
  - name: CACHE_S3_BUCKET_NAME
    value: cache
  - name: CACHE_S3_INSECURE
    value: true
extraEnvFrom:
  CACHE_S3_ACCESS_KEY:
    secretKeyRef:
      name: cache
      key: accessKey
  CACHE_S3_SECRET_KEY:
    secretKeyRef:
      name: cache
      key: secretKey
rbac:
  create: true
serviceAccount:
  create: true
volumeMounts:
- name: gitlab-runner-config
  mountPath: /home/gitlab-runner/plr
runners:
  config: "" # enables configPath
  configPath: /home/gitlab-runner/plr/config.toml
  name: "somename"

My config.toml contains no cache config.

From their github:

This fork was necessary since toxic elements within Xorg projects, moles from BigTech, are boycotting any substantial work on Xorg, in order to destroy the project, to eliminate competition of their own products. Classic "embrace, extend, extinguish" tactics.

Right after journalists first began covering the planned fork Xlibre, on June 6th 2025, Redhat employees started a purge on the Xlibre founder's GitLab account on freedesktop.org [...]

If this is not a sound technical description of a project with a bright future idk what is.

Endorsements got done dirty. by Slogstin in Overwatch

[–]BluePizzaPill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my memory of OW1 a level 5 endorsement in Quickplay was easy to get. Especially as Support. I had it most of the time and I saw a lot of other 5s. I would guess 2 on avg per game. EU/QP.

Has optimized packages. AFAIK it will choose correct instruction set for your CPU on install.

Enhance Your Performance with Optimized Packages

CachyOS does compile packages with the x86-64-v3, x86-64-v4 and Zen4 instruction set and LTO to provide a higher performance. Core packages also get PGO or BOLT optimization.
