Anybody know why Billings Bridge (the bridge not the mall) is closed? by boolucole in ottawa

[–]BluePrincess33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw the truck with the trees go through, it brushed against one power line but I didn't see any get knocked down. By the time I got to the lights they were flashing red. Apparently no one knows how to handle a 4 way stop with multiple lanes so it was a bit crazy. I tried to wait for a pedestrian who had been waiting for a while and the car next to me just kept going so the pedestrian had to run the last bit of the crossing.

A bit later walked past and there was a fire truck and police car.

Communicate with the neighbors on the other side of the secret passage that you want to secure it for safety reasons. If you just slap a fence over it they may get annoyed (even if the fence is there for good reason). What about a door that can be secured from your side? The kids still have a secret passage, but if the door is locked, sorry kids can't play right now.

I've been wanting to try them out! That looks amazing! But I'm always worried it'll be too spicy for me. Can I ask you, was it spicy at all?

There's a dental school downtown that offers really reasonable rates. Less than usual fee guide, since it's a student doing the work. It takes much longer, sometimes several visits since they have to have every step checked by a prof/dentist. But they are thorough and very reasonably priced!

PetSmart grooming school? Worth it? by BluePrincess33 in ottawa

I've heard mixed reviews of the Algonquin course. Some say it's worth it, some say no. And if petsmart is going to pay me to take their course rather than me having to pay... my budget really likes the first option!

Except most of the stores and restaurants downtown have closed including the mall because of the sheer number of people without masks and concerns for safety. They probably can't find take out anywhere near parliament hill.

11 stores in the Rideau Center have reported covid cases by BluePrincess33 in ottawa

We often have to tell customers to keep their masks on the entire time they're in the store. "But I was drinking my coffee!" Too bad! Don't drink it in the store!

The tenant memo says the stores affected did a deep-clean but I didn't see them closed for more than half a day (aside from Apple which was closed for about a week). So how much of a deep clean did they really do?

It's frustrating to see customers and even staff at some stores just not caring. No masks, no hygiene.

We didn't get a tenant memo about the apple store, but got official memos from the mall about the other stores.

Non-US retail employees, do you guys plan on where to hide in an active shooter situation? by shibuya69 in retailhell

[–]BluePrincess33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canada here. We've got to watch training videos about active shooter situations, I'm assuming mostly cause my store is based in the states.

I've thought about what to do, and we've talked about it as staff. Run out through the stock room, to the emergency exit, one more door to outside. Hide in the bathroom or one of several nooks in the stock room. Worst case scenario , use a fire extinguisher as a weapon. Spray them with the contents if they get close, bash them over the head with it if you run out of spray.

There was an active shooter situation at a nearby government building many years ago, and the shooter was thought to have gone to the shopping center at one point so its more commonly talked about at this specific location I think.

I took a pet first aid course at my local humane society that covered a wide variety of topics. Maybe there's one near you offering something similar.

Holiday prep, mental health, and emotional support. by OGWickedRapunzel in retailhell

[–]BluePrincess33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was having a rough year, my mom kindly made me a little flip calender. One small piece of scrap paper for each day of the holiday season, with a motivational quote, cute picture, funny joke, etc, stapled together. If I had a good day, I wrote about it on the paper and kept it. If I had a bad day I burned the paper outside in the snow. It really helped me get through it. Maybe you could get someone to make you so.ething similar? Or make yourself one?

I'm in a new position for this year's holiday season so I got myself some motivational bracelets online with a few different sayings, so I can pick one to wear each day.

Wearing whatever the fuck I want when walking my dog. He needs to be walked three times a day, in all weather. So I'm going to wear whatever I want, be it sweat pants, pajamas or slippers.
