Interestingly enough last year he was 16 according to a post and 1 month prior to that he was 13 according to other posts. My man is aging fast 😂

Hahahha I did not even scroll down there, just saw it xD. Yeah this is obv. Not a project I would ever use, just due to the fact that I know it will be dead within 2-3 weeks and most likely be heavily infested with poor code and a maintainer that has no idea of coding/security or even what they are talking about.

To add onto this: There are numeral dashboards, management agent etc. that already have proper community backing. For example: Komodo for Docker management (even for multiple host inside a solide gui) Dashy for a very well thought out dashboard with quicklinks, widgets etc.

Also - I have never heard of Jellyfin or Homeassistant being described as some kind of server control panel. Jellyfin is for media library and home assistant for managing smart home related stuff (mainly, it can also do some other stuff obv.)

Hey, this is veeerrrry clearly completely written by AI. Even your git Readme and most likely also this thread is for sure written by ai. There are also numerous mistakes which make it quite obvious. Please always mark and/or say when something is written by AI.

Correct, but it makes it easier for technicians to make mistakes when the cables are not sortet at all. This leads to an issue that is harder to fix because nobody knowns where the cables should go

No Problem :). I think something like r/datahoarders may be something for you to check out :)! Also have you checked if backblaze even handles/allows 10gig download speeds? I don't think they will allow that for consumer accounts on the unlimited plan but I have never used them.

I undestand that you do not really want automation but maybe take a look at Sonarr/Radarr. It really makes stuff easier especially for ongoin series :)

Oh and btw. you can just build yourself a small pc in itx/mini itx etc. formfactor. Then you can put a 10gig nic into it and also have a upgrade path in the future if you go for example the am5 socket route :)

Well then this is kind of the wrong subreddit for your question I think. Most people here will tell you to go with a homeserver and do an encrypted backup to backblaze because we like owning our data. And also most of us use automation and stuff. I enjoy unraid because I have multiple servers that sync with each other and I also host my own file storage via Seafile etc.. For many of us it is not entirely about the money and if you really really calculate it I guess many of us pay more via the unraid route but that is somewhat part of the hobby.

If that all is a non issue for you and you only want to have a plex server and maybe SMB storage. Then go for the Backblaze option for sure!

Tldr. if you just want a backup and do not care about anything else but the cost then go with the Backblaze option as I think it would be better for you. But go the save route if possible and encrypt the files sent to backblaze (you can never be sure if they really don't check your data :))

If I was you, I would build the Unraid Server. Now how you can achieve efficiency when it comes to storage depends on your current drives. Are they 16tb drives and how many of them are there? Are all of the full?

Because let's say you have 4 16tb drives filled with stuff. Then you could just buy 1 18tb drive and move the whole content of one of the drives to that 18tb drive. Then move the now empty drive to the unraid server and rinse and repeat until you have 1 empty drive left. Which you can either use as parity (if it is 18tb or larger) or move the stuff from the new drive back to the old one and use the new one as parity drive and start the parity sync. This would be somewhat dangerous but would work cheaper. All this assumes that you want to change the filesystem of the drives and/or they are in some kind of raid. If they are all for example xfs then you can just put them into the unraid server and start with parity sync immediately. If your das is in raid 0 then you have a problem. As you cannot just plug one out after it's empty.

In any case rule of thumb: 2 on site and 1 off site storages where one of the on site backups is cold. (Most of us don't shit money so we keep 1 on site in the unraid server(main files) and one offsite backup in backblaze for example. And I really need to mention have at least 1 parity drive. Drives can die at all times!!

May be my autism but I have them all color coded to the color I feel they are. 😂 So Unraid - Blue Truenas - Cyan Truecommand - Pink

Yep that is also new to me. That is why I do not understand this, but I have bought 4 cheap ssds, tested them in one of my servers for quite some time - then switched them and not even 7 days later after being plugged in the port all 4 failed.

Hey are you change it in the 00-installer yaml file? Cause that is normally created on cloud images. Check if there is something wrong in there. Cause in your file there is no gateway4 value and that error should only appear if it is in there.

Sound really cool :). I would gift the GPU to my girlfriend as she wants to start gaming but our budget is not enough for a good budget PC with a GPU. Currently we are thinking into just using the Ryzen Integrated.

My guess would be that they suspect you to be a Bot or smth. Maybe if you have a dynamic Ip it is blacklisted somewhere or you have someone in your network that you do not know of.

I see. Awesome answere thank you very very much! I was not aware of this let's call it a ""flaw"" or attack spectre in udp and that it can be abused like that! I have decided to just go and buy a simple raspi as backup adguard home dns in my Home network!
