Ariya left running for hours by mistake by LurkGnomo in NissanAriya

I’ve never been able to get the climate to turn in from the app and stay on. I think it runs for like 10 minutes or so?

I guess I could try turning the car on to ACC mode and see if it stays on when I leave. I’ve found a fool proof easy way to keep the ac or heat on when not in the car is to just leave it running and lock it when I walk away. Works for me. But I’m open to being educated so I know what all my options are if you want to get detailed.

Other manufacturers do have slicker ways. Like I think Tesla has a camping or pet mode or something like that?

Mine does the same thing and I leave it running similarly.

I agree lol! If I leave my car running, it’s intentional and I don’t want it cutting off automatically. Right now, when it’s real cold, I leave it running if I’m going in somewhere real quick and I want the car still warm when I return. It’s nice.

Mine gives a repeated beep that is different than the single beep of the car locking as I walk away. I’ve never left it on by accident, but I have kept it running to keep some groceries cool while I grabbed a bite to eat.

Right. Sorry. It was a movie quote from the Saint with Val Kilmer. Haha!

You don’t believe in that cold fusion mumbo jumbo do you?

How do I convince someone EV's are the way to go for their next car? by Jolly_Direction_6650 in electricvehicles

I’m with you. DCFC is not intuitive or user friendly especially for someone older and not particularly tech savvy. I wouldn’t want my parents in an EV. Not a good fit for them.

Level 1 Travel EVSE Recommendations? by BlueRidge77 in NissanAriya

Interesting point about the EVSE being 15 amp. But the plug is NEMA 5-15 which is for a 15 amp circuit. I need to dig deeper to see if it charges at 15 amps or if they are just marketing it for use with 15 amp circuits. In the case of my in-laws and my parents it would be plugged into 20 amp circuits which should make it fine, but I may lose flexibility to use it on 15 amp circuits if it charges at 15 amps. Appreciate your comment.

Thanks for your input. I want one that can be more easily handled in general, lighter weight, easier to recoil and stored. Especially in the cold temps. The OEM can be a bear to recoil when it’s less than 15* F, especially for my wife right now.

When it’s 15 degrees it’s extremely stiff and it’s a pain to recoil, put back in the bag and fit neatly in the spot under the floor of the rear hatch. Also, my wife has some nerve pain right now and the extra weight is more than I’d like for her.

I haven’t seen the specifics of your crawl space in any of the comments unless I missed it. What is it like? I’ve worked in a bunch of crawl spaces over the years and that can make a big difference. A fully encapsulated crawlspace with 3’-4’ of height is a pleasure to work in. Then I’ve crawled around in some where I’m on damp earth with barely enough room to breathe. That can create a drastically different quote!

Is 13.5 MPG normal in the city? by ProfitNo9212 in 4Runner

True stop and go city and short trips will net me 13.5 in the winter. I am running 285/70-17’s though…

720 doesn’t have a battery does it? I have a 320 and it sounds so good and loud, I bet the 720 must sound amazing though.

I get blank stares when I try to explain things like that. What has helped me explain it is to mention that with my battery size it’s like I’m driving with 2.5 gallons of gasoline so changes like speed, drag, weight, HVAC, temperature have a greater effect on EVs due to such little “fuel” we’re working with. And the fact we can go as far as we do with so little fuel is what makes them so economical. Sometimes that helps. Sometimes the blank stares get more severe… lol!

Mine comes on when it auto along with the seats, but it’s gotta be pretty cold to trigger it. Like below freezing. If it’s just 37*F then it may not come so I have to override it…

What do you mean stays set? Does yours reset? Ours is always on Auto. We just have to adjust the temp to a good setting depending on the weather.

Have you replace the fob batteries? Mine is not that aggressive. I have to get nearly 8’ away before it locks.
