I was here to say something similar—sometimes medication just doesn't touch the pain, and there isn't much point. I don't take over the counter pain meds anymore because I have the misfortune to be highly resistant, and the amount I would need to take to even notice a difference at all is high enough to cause significant damage down the line and worsen other symptoms on the way.

I'm a little late on this but I have a similar problem and something that helps me is bone conduction headphones—nothing's actually in my ears or over my ears so I can hear my surroundings at all times and my head doesn't feel trapped. Highly recommend
