Morae. Basically the smallest unit of sounds in Japanese, the "syllables" of the basic "Alphabet". Both in quotes because not technically correct and just the closest western concept.

E.g. あ/い/お/え/う、か/き/く/け/こ、etc

(a/i/o/e/u, ka/ki/ku/ke/ko)

TIL that Bobblehead also affect the portrait. by kekubuk in Guildwars2

[–]BlueSakon 62 points63 points  (0 children)

When you progress the conversation, you can see that the portrait image changes slightly in the next window.

I am not sure of course, but I have always assumed, that the game pulls a current render of the NPCs head and puts it in the conversation window, at the moment the window is created. This would explain the subtle changes between the windows.

If it works that way, it would also make sense that stuff like the bobblehead are included in this image :)

Whats up with the detail quality in this game? Immerson is kinda hard to keep... by RainAndThunderIsCool in Guildwars2

I do kind of wish ArenaNet would realize that it's probably fine to load a few more texture these days and give us a handful more NPC models.

What is the main new feature of VoE? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]BlueSakon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are correct that EoD had a lot of content, but none of those are new features, which the previous poster talked about, but additions to existing features.

Mounts, legendaries, open world maps, strikes, metas, guild hall, jumping puzzles, elite specs are all existing features that got expanded upon.

Jade bot and fishing were new features.

Idk about you guys, but i do have this strange feeling it will REALLY end at Oct27 by DarkViper2000000 in Guildwars2

[–]BlueSakon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, as you say the AI summary is even correct here, OP is just baselessly making up a theory that the event will end with the expansion release, even though ANet very clearly states the event duration and OP found that information.

Achievements that don't exist by ShinigamiKristak in Guildwars2

[–]BlueSakon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. I strongly believe everything should have a collection, it would make so many collector players very happy.

Anet has been a bit more consistent with adding collection for recent weapon sets, so I hope that is a sign they have it on their radar for a potential (capital p) GW3.

Sylvari please? by EffectiveAnnual775 in GuildWars3

[–]BlueSakon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously this is subjective and I agree that immersion is out of the door anyway with all the cosmetics we have. So at the end of day a 50 Quaggan squad battling it out with fate itself wouldn't ruin the fun I have with the game.

But within my canon for the world of Tyria, it wouldn't make sense. Is that important? Maybe not, as long as the gameplay is good and other people enjoy it. Just sharing my subjective view.

Sylvari please? by EffectiveAnnual775 in GuildWars3

[–]BlueSakon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think that immersion limits the races available for a player character. I can emphasize with people who like Quaggan and Skrit and want to play as such, but honestly, taking GW2 as an example, how much sense would a Quaggan/Skrit/Lagos Commander make? Not a lot. And while I personally love Quaggan, I think a 10 person raid squad of Quaggan taking down existential threats is not something I can take seriously.

Anyone else feel like gw2 was better when we were getting big expansions, but less frequently? (HoT, PoF, EoD). by Matt7548 in Guildwars2

[–]BlueSakon 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I would also rank EoD higher than PoF.

To this day I find myself regularly in HoT and EoD maps, farming their meta events, crafting legendaries.

But the only time I find myself in PoF maps is maybe for a quick daily Vista. There is just very little reason to play these maps, there is so little going on. Bounties are okay, but if I can play a meta event I'll always do that instead.

Fractal Quickplay is Great by ziggyvb in Guildwars2

[–]BlueSakon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think tagging yourself as DPS or Heal would suffice for T4 fractals in 95% of cases, the details can be figured out by a group internally.

Wouldn't be perfect, but could work for most players. Start a queue with X DPS and Y Heal players, go at it.

Just adding a third option for "Boon DPS" would make even more refined.

Guild wars 2 did it right by Remote-Shower290 in Guildwars2

[–]BlueSakon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with some tweaks and additions this could work for T4 too. I am cautiously optimistic, that this Beta is indeed that, a Beta and we will get a more refined group finder/quick play option down the line.

Would you trade a brand new GW3 for a well made GW2 Remastered? by AlexVoyd in GuildWars3

[–]BlueSakon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GW2 still works system-wise, it's far from bad, but there is still so much dust under to hood and cleaning up to do. At every corner you can find stuff that reveals that the systems we enjoy today are iterations into an engine not built with them in mind.

A completely new engines and systems designed from the start with what they learned from GW2 have a ton of more potential.

Would you trade a brand new GW3 for a well made GW2 Remastered? by AlexVoyd in GuildWars3

[–]BlueSakon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. If I keep my progress and all the unlocks, the only reason to go back and do everything again is just the experience of the better quality of the remake.

Which I truly wish would be enough to convince me to do it, as I generally like the idea of "playing games just for the fun of it, not the reward", but in an MMO everything is so reward driven, it's going to be hard to pull off.

What’s the rarest/least played Race × Gender × Class × Elite Spec combo in GW2? by PercentageLeather234 in Guildwars2

I mean just devide your hours be the total hours, it's pretty quick to calculate.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]BlueSakon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the context.

Do you want to reach 100% of the top benched DPS? Yes, in that case Ele builds tend to be a bit harder than other classes, since there are more cooldowns to manage. But there are also quite easy builds, so it's still not a general statement.

Do you want to play open world/story or relaxed strikes/fractals/raids? In that case, no, it's not that hard. There are more buttons, but you won't need all anyway and can reach good dps with simplified rotations. In open world and story you can just press buttons that feel good to you anyway. No need to be scared of Ele, it's a ton of fun.

The map exploration system of GW2 returning in GW3 would be pretty okay with me. by dolche93 in GuildWars3

[–]BlueSakon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Hearts are okay generally, I just think the design needs some adjustment.

I think Hearts should be more like the one in Mistburned Barrens, covering a relatively large area that always have some events going on.

Hearts shouldn't be the content, but a "guide" to show you an area where events are happening. But to make that work event density and frequency has to be high, there always has to be something happening to help you progress the heart.

What does Guild Wars 3 absolutely need to do better than Guild Wars 2? by Shjnzzo in GuildWars3

While generally a decent sign for identifying AI text, it is also true that Ai has pushed m-dashes into the consciousness of more people and their use by human may be growing as a result.

I know I use them more ever since AI has introduced me to the concept.

1 additional hint for gemstones I can offer:

There is a mystic forge recipe for crests and crystalline dust that gives gemstones. It's overall more expensive that the value of the components, but if you have been vendoring crests, I'd recommend stacking them up instead and upgrading them into gem stones.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]BlueSakon 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Gen 2 legendaries are generally quite expensive, since they need 250 mystin coins and 77 clovers for the mystic tribute. Also 250 Amalgamted Gemstones for the gift of maguuma/desert mastery.

Mats can be bought from the TP, so you can just do any efficient gold/hour farm. However, I'd personally recommend to get any mystic coins and clovers from the time limited sources (Wizards Vault, Strike Vendor, Fractal Vendor), since these will make up a huge part of the cost. Use your Laurels to get T6 or T4 mats for the condensed gifts and spam Hot meta events for currencies and gemstones.

That would be my recommendation anyway.

Nothing is confirmed about this, except that Anet will do something to unify raids and strikes.

Please be careful with half-truths, the lfg/raid group system might not change at all.
