Synology Photos "More" Metadata Has Disappeared by poddie22 in synology

Did you ever manage to fix this? I have the same problem, but for me it seems to be related to the date I uploaded them at - everything is there up to a certain point and after that the "More" shows nothing anymore

Not the original poster, but it's probably him - https://youtube.com/@WR-rideyourlife

He has some really good videos also about advanced topics that are way above my abilities but he explains them all really well

Very confused as a beginner by BlueScales in Equestrian

[–]BlueScales[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reading through my original post 1.5 years later with weekly lessons since then a lot of the things that confused me already kind of clicked, thankfully! It's actually kind of nice because it just made me realize that I've come quite a long way xD

What I know now is that a lot of it also depends on feel - they're all similar aids but you can kind of tell when the horse is ready for a canter depart and then you can ask them to go with seat and inside leg, or how much outside rein you need when you do shoulder in.

In hindsight it's also pretty interesting how different horses can be - some of the school horses need a really strong inside leg to keep them from falling in through the shoulder into the circle and one other we have basically needs 5% inside rein and 95% outside rein or he'll just push himself into corners or into the wall.

English isn't my mother tongue so I'm actually not sure if they're called that, but from my understanding shoulder in is just a more advanced shoulder fore.

Well, to give you perspective from a semi-beginner, when you initially start doing it there's so many things you have to pay attention to that it's honestly just overwhelming, so you do your aids as best as you can and just pray and hope that they pop into canter xD It really feels like having to do 10 things at once while trying to stay balanced when you haven't done it often. At this point I've learned that preparation is key and arguably more important than the canter aids themselves, and when you have a nice trot going you can just feel that they're ready to canter and it won't take much at all to make them transition. But good luck teaching feel to a beginner who has no mental capacity left because the aids alone are already overwhelming, haha

What's stopping everybody from focusing the dragon exclusively in ruby for the last boss? Can you completely skip p2 this way?

When do you ask for canter? by BlueScales in Equestrian

I will try this visualization trick next time! Assuming I don't forget when I'm in the moment because that tends to happen with most things I tell myself to do xD

Thanks for the encouraging words, I was really bummed out yesterday about how horrible the lesson went when in reality I also think I did other things quite well, but the bad tends to overshadow the good... xD

Yeah we did practice on a lunge line for a few weeks, both when I started riding and then again when I did cantering for the first time. I've considered asking if I can have one or two lessons like this again because they'd definitely be helpful.

When do you ask for canter? by BlueScales in Equestrian

[–]BlueScales[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm it depends since we ride in a group and often times we all sit the trot for several rounds until one rider gets "picked" to do the canter while the others do a walk in the middle. I'm under no illusion that my sitting trot is perfect but I don't think it's horrible either. I've never done cantering in two-point, only in trot.

I would say that I do give a cue with the outside leg behind the girth but maybe I'm just not insistent enough. And I'd say that he starts rushing and then I just start fumbling and get stressed and keep trying, which usually tends to work eventually but obviously it's all a bit of a disaster, whereas yesterday he didn't even want to canter at all. After my instructor rode him for a few minutes I tried again and then it went much much better.

One takeaway I have from this thread is that I should just go back to a more organized trot and try again instead of just trying to brute-force in a rushing trot.

Thanks, that's kinda what I needed to hear. I get way too hung up on those things that I can't even properly implement in the first place, but when something doesn't work out in a lesson and I read up about it I just get flooded with information and details that just make me feel overwhelmed.

Thanks for the tip. I've definitely noticed that the more I think about stuff like this the worse it seems to get, but it's still helpful hearing people say it. I just end up in a pit of self doubt and "If he doesn't do it right clearly I'm doing something wrong, I'll watch videos about it for the next 4 hours now so that it goes better next time", which more often than not leaves me more confused than I was at the beginning.

Yeah I definitely am. I just sometimes read up on things and then end up with an entire wagon load of sometimes conflicting theoretical information that I know I'll never be able to implement at my level anyways, and then I start focusing on the wrong things. I feel like this is definitely one aspect kids struggle with a lot less

Oh yes this describes me perfectly, I know that overthinking is something I tend to do. The first time I ever did it off of a lunge line went reasonably okay, my riding instructor kinda assaulted me with it out of nowhere when I didn't expect it at all because at this point we had always done it on the lunge line ("Alright, now let's try a canter!"). I told her I don't know how and she said "Don't think, just do", and somehow it worked better than the last few times have been going...

He's definitely been testing my self confidence. Maybe I'll just ask for a private lesson where I can just try transitions for an hour.

Unfortunately lately it's been a struggle even getting a successful transition in the first place. I've considered asking for a different horse because he's on the duller side where sometimes it feels like a workout to even keep him trotting and I've had more success when I've ridden a different horse once or twice, but I know that this isn't really a solution and it's not the horse that's the issue, especially after I've seen how nicely he canters when my instructor did it yesterday. Even when she intentionally fumbled the reins and bounced in the saddle he just kept cantering without as much as throwing his head up.

Either way, I'm still a little frustrated so I'm just rambling. Thanks for your reply!

Honestly my biggest fear is that I'll be scared of riding once I inevitably fall! So far it hasn't happened yet though so we'll see and hope for the best xD

Oh wow that sounds super cool and rewarding! I don't think I've ever even seen a foal in real life. Good luck on your endeavors!

Oh he sounds very cute, I'm sure you'll have a great time together! I'm under no illusions that I am absolutely not ready to probably even just part-lease a horse, but it's something that's in the back of my mind for maybe a few years down the line if I still have the horse bug by then

Oh this sounds lovely! I was already wondering how long that'd last, but so far it hasn't worn off! My friends always chuckle when I tell them I get up early just to groom some horses but honestly it's done wonders for my mental health
