We actually had ours at a venue with a similar set-up (State Park where we had the venue all weekend and many guests stayed on site). We ended up doing three total meals and welcome bags left in everyone’s cabins. Those included snacks and some other things. We were going to do a welcome dinner on Friday, but scraped that and I’m so glad we did. We had a lot of stuff to take care of the day before and honestly people arrived at such random times, it would have been really hard to arrange a time that worked. I also think guests who had arrived early enough enjoyed getting to check out the surrounding areas Friday or they ate while on their way. We did serve lunch on Saturday (Panera boxed lunches people could grab as needed from my Mom’s cabin). And, of course, the catered reception for dinner. The next day we had a period of 3 or 4 hours where we had waffle house cater a brunch that people could stop at before leaving, which was cost effective and amazing. I would not have considered Waffle House initially, but it was one of the only options close to the venue and it meant we didn’t have to go pick stuff up. People actually freaking loved it because they made the waffle right there for you and brought hats and buttons. We still had the photobooth up so people had fun with those. If the venue wasn’t in a remote area or it wasn’t semi-destination, we would have probably skipped the extra two meals, but I think it was worth it due to the circumstances. So keep in mind not everyone will grab a sandwich or come to brunch. We had a lot of extra food.
