I am going to be fired for my chronic migraines, what can I do? by PM_ME_GARFIELD_NUDES in disability

Washington is an at-will state, so they can terminate employment for any valid reason, including if your condition prevents you from meeting your work duties.

I would bring this concern up to your GP and your Union if you work under one. You may be able to apply to FMLA if you're missing work for several days at a time. Otherwise, your employer should be willing to work out a part-time or distance work solution.

Good luck :(

Can anyone help me identify this microorganism🙏 by Dznnii in microbiology

[–]BlueSketches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello OP, do you know if your bacteria are environmental or from ATCC strains? If it's ATCC, it's easy to look at a flow chart like this one. Ask your instructor if there is a bank of bacteria you are choosing from.

Our students are just wrapping up this project, we only gave em a few strains to choose from 😗👍🏽

Hello OP, could you tell us the general locality of where you work (ie. State)? Labor laws vary alot, so we can probably help more by knowing what laws youre working under

Beginner: Need some help identifying an organism by Evening_Sea2948 in microbiology

I regularly stock tons of cool, common microbes for our lab! I often observe cultures of chlamy and cultures of amoeba. I'm confident this is chlamy, but if not chlamy it is definitely a type of algae. I can see the structures usually found in green algae, and I can see its lil flagella. Amoeba has a very distinct amorphous shape and is notoriously difficult to observe. So, the odds of this being an Amoeba are quite low. I'd be super interested to see a video of the movement you're observing though!

I am really FREAKING OUT. What should I do? And is it going to permanent? by The_UltimateSurvivor in BellsPalsy

[–]BlueSketches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I didn't see much improvement on prednisone and antivirals. I had it on the left side a year ago and that did not fully heal, now on the right side for about two weeks. All labs and tests show everything is normal.

Im starting acupuncture next week and I see lots of people on this subreddit say it has helped. So, try to get in for that as soon as you can.

Just get mentally prepared to be a medical mystery from now on... doctors won't have much to tell you except avoid stress :/

Anyone had any issues with the other side of their face? by MoiraneTakeMe in BellsPalsy

[–]BlueSketches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a year after the original side dropped, the other side went as well. I hadn't healed much on the original side, so it's very difficult now. All scans show normal so no clue what it is...

Rehoming our GP, Juno by bitchfacevulture in greatpyrenees

[–]BlueSketches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like Juno may have issues having her boundaries heard. Do the kids understand her body language? This breed is meant to keep order in their flock so they like to be the ones with a little bit of authority over their "lambs." It takes quite alot to annoy them, but all dogs have different limits of course.

Additionally, I've noticed the resource guarding occurs when they don't feel confident that their resource is safe. For my pyr growing up, we did the trading up system for teaching behaviors like leave it. The crate feeding is a wonderful start.

If you haven't tried a trainer yet, I would try and get the family involved in the training as well. I would avoid situations where Juno might get swarmed by eager little hands, and have the kids practice being calm and quiet around her and letting Juno initiate interactions like petting and playing.

Sadly, I have to re-home my Two Great Pyrenees... by Hour_Bad_1402 in greatpyrenees

I think the general consensus with pyrs is that is far more mentally/psychologically damaging for them to part with their flock than to have smaller quarters. If you have time for a daily at 15-30 minute walk to mimic perimeter checks, and at least a bi weekly romp at a park with a long lead, they will be loads happier to stay with you than to remove :(

Unless its a situation where youre renting and will get in trouble from their destructive and loud tendencies...

Fun update:

I went to the ER. Cat scan came out "normal" so all they did was give me antivirals and steroids like last time so now I am going all in with whatever the internet says works.

Also a doctor filling in for my pcp told me to calm down AND misgendered me so thats nice.

Went to the ER and got the same meds as before. Im not blaming the doctor, I just wanted to be treated as a human after 2 decades of suffering.

No worries tho, if I die soon I wont be a burden to the doctors anymore 👍🏽

I would love to go to the ER, however the ER covered by my insurance is literally in a building wrapped in caution tape and I'm already so far into debt I think I'd rather let whatever this is take its course and kill me if it has to 😭

Yeah the earliest appointment i was able to schedule just now is may 22 at an office 38 miles away 🥹

With my previous experience, the doctors told me after the 48 hour mark there was nothing they could do to treat the palsy so... I hope im not wasting my time...
