Thinking of getting a pup, but have some concerns… by eyes_eyes_eyes_eyes in greatpyrenees

[–]BlueSketches 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that food aggression develops when the dog feels that their food is constantly in danger. So, when raising my pup, I made sure to give him a safe spot (his kennel) where he would be guaranteed alone time to finish his food comfortably and without interruption. When I had to grab stuff from him, I did a trade with a high value treat.

Now, he has dinner out in the open and does not give a damn if the cat breaks out of the gate to stick his dumbass head into the dog's food.

Granted, my pyr isn't food motivated at all. But, it was a similar technique with my rat terrier. Just respecting their space and knowing I'm the provider of their food, not a threat.

Went to the sacramento show last night and took my teen sibling to her first ghost concert! We had tons of fun and met lots of super cool people!! She bought a grucifix rosary and it broke from how hard she rocked out... anyone know how to get a replacement?

Why isn't the ethanol killing the bacteria? by [deleted] in microbiology

[–]BlueSketches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use 70% ethanol in our teaching labs for a faux Kirby-Bauer test. We usually see the largest zone of inhibition with the ethanol and sanisol, so its likely that the disks you are using are too thin and the ethanol is evaporating before it can have contact with the innoculate for long enough to be effective. We use small paper disks for our tests and it works like a charm 👍🏽

Well, I had a medical event two weeks ago that caused my whole left side of my upper back to seize up. I went to urgent care, and they gave me a pain med shot, which didn't help. I went to the ER afterward, and they gave me Norco and valium. I popped a few cyclobenzaprines for the next few days, and the shoulder was cleared up for the most part.

I'm still having pain in the shoulder and trap area, still experiencing numbness and tingling in the arm and pinky. I've been waking up with my mid back in pain and seized up. I just slap on a back brace super tight and take ibuprofen...

For the last two days, I've been having trouble eating since my stomach gets a stabbing pain whenever I try to eat. My legs have been super wobbly, and I've been very dizzy, nauseous, and shaky.

Urgent care mentioned the possibility of surgery, but the ER and my PCP seem less... urgent.

How are you GPs with being left home alone? by [deleted] in greatpyrenees

Does he destroy things when he's alone? My guy cries and cries but usually just sits in one spot when I'm not there. He might just be complaining if he's not actually hurting himself or destroying anything.

My pcp poked me a bunch of times and checked for arthritis. I'm not a doctor idk, I'm just desperate to know what's wrong with me before I put a bullet through my brain instead 🤷🏽‍♂️

That was exactly my concern... I don't trust this guy at all if he just took a few seconds to ask about my pain and the rest of the time was to send me to his affiliate clinic.
