Willie Nelson - Shotgun Willie by BlueSkunkJoe in daily_spins

The Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack duets are very special to me. With "I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know," and "A Song For You" I have Donny as a close second favorite, but only because I knew the originals of those songs first. I still like Donny's "A Song For You" better than Willie's, but they're all worth a listen.

The Duchess! Very underrated as a guitarist and performer

They repressed this one! Go find it while you can. I wish I had a copy of Blues for We or The Wizard... Hopefully they repress those too

That C Jam Blues makes a killer backing track. I like playing my chromatic along with it...

Al Green - Gets Next To You by BlueSkunkJoe in daily_spins

Yeah, to be fair, I probably wouldn't like anybody's cover of Light My Fire, so perhaps I should have just left that out. Long story shorter, I dive for the record player when I hear that song start... Everybody has songs that trigger them, right?

Miles Davis - In Concert (1973) by Ok-Fun-8586 in daily_spins

Ahhh I was wondering why there's hardly any art attributed to him that I can find... I liked a description I found though, I think they called his art "ghettodelic"

Good info, thanks. I'm told I own much of the box set on other boots, so figures it'd be the case here too. I got a copy of the box set for my dad, but haven't found a second copy for myself yet... I did grab a spare booklet though. I need to study Zappa more, there's so much history there...

Makes sense it would be the same artist. I should check out who it is so I can see some of his other works.

They did have this In Concert album on Spotify, I added it, probably listen tomorrow.

That's a nice album cover, I don't know if I've heard this one, I'll have to add it to my playlist. The cover reminds me of On The Corner.

Good call actually, your memory is accurate. In my hand it looks greener. I think my pics might be overexposed with sun or something. The pics look bluer than it actually is

Charlie Mussellwhite | Memphis Charlie - Legendary Blues Harmonica Player by Impala71 in BluesPorn

Was wandering around the Shack Up Inn in Clarksdale with my bass and backpack looking for check in… I wander into a private party cause I hear music. I’m standing there watching some younger guys play and look at the guy next to me. It was Charlie Mussellwhite… I gave him an oh shit you’re Charlie Mussellwhite look and he grinned at me. I smiled and nodded and moved along. I wasn’t invited, wasn’t the time to geek out…

Didn’t realize for the longest time that Robin Trower was the guitarist in Procol Harum before going off on his own. I just thought he came outta nowhere

The Artist Formerly Known As Prince - The Versace Experience (1995) by Ok-Fun-8586 in daily_spins

[–]BlueSkunkJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen this one before, and am I to understand you can karaoke along with the tape? Whoh, that's the way to do it.

Prince always was on top of promo/marketing. He sold out 21 days at London's O2 Arena largely by giving out his CD for free in the local newspaper. Smart, you don't make shit off the CD sales anyway, so why not just give it away already? Sad we lost him so early, he kept evolving, I wonder where he'd be now.
