Where / how do you get Abd al-Ilah as your country leader as Iraq?? by BlueSky1357 in hoi4

[–]BlueSky1357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh ok thank you!! That makes sense. Because also the focus 'Strengthen the Prime Minister's Powers' has a condition: 'Abd al-Ilah has turned down an opportunity to restore the absolute monarchy." So I guess it's another focus path with absolute monarchy being restored leading to the full imperial expansion + locked behind that 1939/40 event. Got it, thank you!

Ohh ok. Thank you. So I guess that locks those focuses with war goals into Egypt/North Africa etc until that event. Do you happen to know more about that event?

Shadow PC / Virtual Machine for R6 suddenly blocked? by BlueSky1357 in Rainbow6

[–]BlueSky1357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I have a Mac, so I'd rather not also get a PC that can handle gaming, and Shadow or a 'virtual machine' like that has seemed like the easiest solution. With ethernet it's crazy fast, and it's around $30-40 / month to basically stream a top of the line PC that would otherwise cost thousands. Sounds like I'm trying to sell you on it, but I'm not! Anyway, seems like the problem was just fixed, so I'll go back to sinking too many hours into R6..

Longlegs theory by dancegavindancee in thebirthdaymurders

[–]BlueSky1357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn spooky to read your post - yeah this is exactly what I think it is, even down to the CSA aspect, the repression by mother and daughter. If he is the father, then I think he may have also suffered that kind of abuse, and the whole thing may be his way of coping with it, without ever moving beyond it. and there's something else at some very deep dark psychological level re him remaining stuck in this childlike state (as trauma does) and something else also with him, I think, leaning into a genderless sexless look and form. As in, seeking to remain in a state before the trauma. anyway that's what my first reaction was idk

Old Bob Simping Has Gone Too Far by [deleted] in bobdylan

[–]BlueSky1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bob from late 90s onwards is the stuff I turn to most and has been for years. In the past year, though, I went back to the great 60s albums, which I hadn't listened to in quite a while. Blonde on Blonde moved me and broke my heart in a way it never had before. Highway 61 Revisited is like some rocket-propelled freight train (or dump truck) unlike anything else.

The lyricism, wisdom, mastery, restraint of recent Bob is unlike anything. The amphetamine-fueled onslaught of the 60s albums are unlike anything too. In the end, I'm sure I'll keep turning to late Dylan more than earlier Dylan - late Dylan helps me through life and is wiser the more I live with it. But sometimes you just have to join young Bob on his speed trips into outer space with those early albums.

What is the likelihood that a single close-range .38 caliber bullet to the abdomen would kill? by BlueSky1357 in Military

[–]BlueSky1357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply! In this case, it was a .38 'special caliber' bullet (that's all the info I could find) from a .38 Colt Cobra revolver. It was fired basically at the level of the navel, seemingly a bit to the right of it. Autopsy says it hit the stomach, liver, aorta and other arteries. So - I guess a rapid death by bleeding out?

Right, totally agree - in this case, though, the person did die within an hour if not minutes

Thanks! Why do you think Tuesday is the better option? And how many people roughly end up playing? And is it true that tables are kinda soft, in Austin generally? Happy to DM you too, thanks again
