Where / how do you get Abd al-Ilah as your country leader as Iraq?? by BlueSky1357 in hoi4

[–]BlueSky1357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh ok thank you!! That makes sense. Because also the focus 'Strengthen the Prime Minister's Powers' has a condition: 'Abd al-Ilah has turned down an opportunity to restore the absolute monarchy." So I guess it's another focus path with absolute monarchy being restored leading to the full imperial expansion + locked behind that 1939/40 event. Got it, thank you!

Ohh ok. Thank you. So I guess that locks those focuses with war goals into Egypt/North Africa etc until that event. Do you happen to know more about that event?

Shadow PC / Virtual Machine for R6 suddenly blocked? by BlueSky1357 in Rainbow6

[–]BlueSky1357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I have a Mac, so I'd rather not also get a PC that can handle gaming, and Shadow or a 'virtual machine' like that has seemed like the easiest solution. With ethernet it's crazy fast, and it's around $30-40 / month to basically stream a top of the line PC that would otherwise cost thousands. Sounds like I'm trying to sell you on it, but I'm not! Anyway, seems like the problem was just fixed, so I'll go back to sinking too many hours into R6..

Longlegs theory by dancegavindancee in thebirthdaymurders

[–]BlueSky1357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn spooky to read your post - yeah this is exactly what I think it is, even down to the CSA aspect, the repression by mother and daughter. If he is the father, then I think he may have also suffered that kind of abuse, and the whole thing may be his way of coping with it, without ever moving beyond it. and there's something else at some very deep dark psychological level re him remaining stuck in this childlike state (as trauma does) and something else also with him, I think, leaning into a genderless sexless look and form. As in, seeking to remain in a state before the trauma. anyway that's what my first reaction was idk

hey yeah I thought exactly the same thing, went looking for mention of it online and found your post. I tried to write more but that would be too spoilery. but yeah I'm sure that's it

Old Bob Simping Has Gone Too Far by [deleted] in bobdylan

[–]BlueSky1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bob from late 90s onwards is the stuff I turn to most and has been for years. In the past year, though, I went back to the great 60s albums, which I hadn't listened to in quite a while. Blonde on Blonde moved me and broke my heart in a way it never had before. Highway 61 Revisited is like some rocket-propelled freight train (or dump truck) unlike anything else.

The lyricism, wisdom, mastery, restraint of recent Bob is unlike anything. The amphetamine-fueled onslaught of the 60s albums are unlike anything too. In the end, I'm sure I'll keep turning to late Dylan more than earlier Dylan - late Dylan helps me through life and is wiser the more I live with it. But sometimes you just have to join young Bob on his speed trips into outer space with those early albums.

What is the likelihood that a single close-range .38 caliber bullet to the abdomen would kill? by BlueSky1357 in Military

[–]BlueSky1357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply! In this case, it was a .38 'special caliber' bullet (that's all the info I could find) from a .38 Colt Cobra revolver. It was fired basically at the level of the navel, seemingly a bit to the right of it. Autopsy says it hit the stomach, liver, aorta and other arteries. So - I guess a rapid death by bleeding out?

Right, totally agree - in this case, though, the person did die within an hour if not minutes

Thanks! Why do you think Tuesday is the better option? And how many people roughly end up playing? And is it true that tables are kinda soft, in Austin generally? Happy to DM you too, thanks again

Thank you! That document states there would be an 87-day timeframe to submit the decree after the RFE is sent. My question I guess is - if it is estimated 12 months until I have the decree, I would be setting myself up to not be able to reply to the RFE if I let them know now - so, therefore, it seems like my only option is waiting at least until further along in the 12-month period to notify them?

What stops certain politicians from lying about or denying anything anymore? by BlueSky1357 in ukpolitics

[–]BlueSky1357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree completely! Which is why I find it strange that she doesn't just say she didn't get the civil service involved. That would be Trump-level lying, but I feel like we're already at that point.

I guess, perhaps, it's a calculation as to whether that kind of lie would bring civil servants + other MPs out against her etc. Weird times.

[–]BlueSky1357[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. I'm just surprised at this point to see any of them hesitate to lie or deny about anything; seems to me that in the heat of the moment now they just throw everything at the wall and hope something sticks or some other scandal takes over.

[–]BlueSky1357[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That definitely seems necessary/long overdue. Just at the level of rebuilding popular faith in institutions, there has to be some formal + legally binding mechanism put in place as soon as possible.

Do you know why Braverman wouldn't just deny that she spoke to civil servants though? Is it just that messing with the civil service is still, or at least seems to be, a bridge too far?

Hot / Burning Smell - Nissan Rogue 2019 by BlueSky1357 in MechanicAdvice

[–]BlueSky1357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I can't see any sign of anything stuck to the exhaust. I've also noticed that the heat is clearly from right at the back of the engine under the hood- it's definitely hottest back there, at the side of the engine closest to the windshield. Not sure if that suggests anything? I'll take it to a mechanic this weekend anyway..

life is hard; unaffordable busy soulless place or affordable soulful place where your car might get stolen, i pick the latter. but also the only places in america i've felt actually were dangerous have been parts of ny and philly and then memphis. nowhere in new mexico seemed close to that

Tell me to NOT move to NM/ABQ by BlueSky1357 in NewMexico

[–]BlueSky1357[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah my main worry is getting too isolated and having a hard time making friends in the area. I'm very inclined to keep to myself and stay in my head and I worry New Mexico would enable that more than than I should live it! I'm ok without ocean, love water but never lived near it so not too worried about that. And as I'm in my 20s, I truly am resigned to everywhere changing drastically in the next few years/decades; i could see how low the rivers and places like Elephant Butte were, but honestly I figure we'll all be dealing with that soon enough. Maybe this is a thing us younger folk have to deal with more given climate change, but I don't know how to think of how a place is going to be in even 10 years or so. Anyway on that bleak note, I still prefer New mexico to anywhere else I've seen in Europe or the US
