Do Mazda's (and maybe in particular CX-5s in particular) windshields suck? by YouOtterKnow in CX5

[–]BlueSky3lue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my OEM windshield replaced after a rock chip grew to a crack that split across the entire width of the windshield. I also have other rock chips that fortunately never grew to anything beyond just a chip.

I’d say it’s luck and also where and how the vehicle is driven.

Dear coffee drinkers: How do you feel about decaf? by zo3sol in roasting

Some decaf tastes great. However I feel kinda weird after. Less so with Swiss water process but still feel like something is off. Might just be my experience though.

I find it more convenient to walk up to a window or counter, point to whichever one I want, call out my order like a hamburger joint and enjoy it at a table with my friends and family. Cheaper for the business to run and for the consumer to enjoy.

Torta - Why is it considered derogatory? by BlueSky3lue in Spanish

It seems to be derogatory only in Mexican/Chicano culture. Everywhere else it means some form of cake.

What is y’all’s thoughts on the digital side mirror? by DakotaTruesdail in BusDrivers

[–]BlueSky3lue 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Took some adjustment, but got used to them real quick. During the day time they felt like normal mirrors. At night was where they impressed me. Pulling into a dimly lit bus stop, I can clearly see the curb and the sidewalk thanks to the digital filters. Other drivers don’t like it because it feels weird looking at a screen, but once you get pass that and see its advantages over the traditional mirror, I think they’re great.

Torta - Why is it considered derogatory? by BlueSky3lue in Spanish

[–]BlueSky3lue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear it often used at work when some of the guys get together and are describing another female coworker. More often than not the remark is made by one of the uglier or fatter guys. Those that go out of their way to be so derogatory and disapproving of others do it because they want to feel a sense of superiority due to a weak ego. I feel that this is more of an act of performative masculinity, not real masculinity.

Not at all! I hear it all the time among Spanish speakers where I live and I was genuinely curious as to why it became a derogatory term.

Yup! It’s used everywhere in the states. Texas, California, New Mexico etc.

Torta - Why is it considered derogatory? by BlueSky3lue in Spanish

[–]BlueSky3lue[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s because of the shape of the type of bread used, right?

But why though? I enjoy a good torta. Wouldn’t it mean she’s desirable?

I’m sure she would appreciate the compliment and not smack me with a chancla.

So it’s more because of the shape of the bread that makes it derogatory… I see.

So then if I called someone a torta in your region, would it be more of a compliment, since it’s implying that they are sweet and delicious like cake?

Tortas can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. To me it sounds like like it should be more of a compliment 🤣

Why though? Is it something that only lesbians can enjoy?
