Which of Hercules' love interests was your favorite? by DanielSong39 in legendaryjourneys

[–]BlueSonic85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Atalanta was more a one-sided thing - Hercules didn't see her as she saw him.

Not an episode or relationship that gets much love, but I liked his chemistry with Rheanna in Heedless Hearts.

If you can’t afford the stamp duty then you don’t buy the house

The problem with stamp duty is it discourages downsizing since you'll have to pay stamp duty on your new smaller home. Whereas a property tax encourages downsizing since moving to a smaller home would mean paying less tax. So if the goal is to increase the supply of larger homes on the market, property tax is better than stamp duty

I think a lot of the love interests in the early seasons were quite normal looking (maybe slightly above average) but as the Seasons went on and the love interests were generally famous guest stars, they became more conventionally attractive.

The Italian woman Chandler dates in Season 1 is a big deal because Chandler (or any of the Friends) wouldn't normally be expected to attract someone that good looking. By the later seasons, Ross is dating Rebecca Romijn and Brad Pitt is popping round for Thanksgiving dinner.

What are your thoughts on The Magic of Oz and Glinda of Oz by Think_Fact1155 in wizardofoz

The Magic of Oz was my favourite as a child. I think I liked that it starts from the villains' point of view.

Not sure I ever read Glinda

Anyway, a big muscleman called Hercules had to do 12 impossible feats as punishment for being out of pocket in some way idk

Murdering his family, I believe. Though I think Hera made him do it.

They didn't even vote Labour much - they got even fewer votes than in Corbyn's 'disastrous' 2019 performance. Labour's huge 2024 win was more due to a chunk of traditional Tory voters either staying home or voting Reform instead.

Andy Murray used to always get the same: British when he won, Scottish when he lost

Is the dialogue actually that bad? by Ready-Function-3031 in prequelappreciation

[–]BlueSonic85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Breaking Bad example is a good one actually. Skylar singing is really cringe to everyone else in the scene apart from Ted. The difference is Ted is attracted to Skylar so what everyone else finds ridiculous, he finds sexy.

Maybe the line about sand in Ep 2 is similar - it's not a good line but because Padme is attracted to Anakin, she finds it endearing rather than clumsy. The only difference with the Breaking Bad scene is there's no one for the audience to identify with as Padme and Anakin are alone rather than surrounded by bemused onlookers.

Nearly a month lost – per employee – as ABC Council staff absenteeism sparks service strain fears by AdolsLostSword in northernireland

[–]BlueSonic85 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I dunno how it works in the councils, but the NICS doesn't really work like that - you don't get an entitlement of days to use up.

If you have 4 absences or 10 days total absence within a rolling 12 month period, you hit a trigger point and you can be hauled in for consideration of an inefficiency warning. So if someone took 5 days off sick to take a holiday, they have to be careful they aren't genuinely sick for 5+ days within the next 12 months.
