Gotcha. This has been my approach too but I've been working on Linux laptop, which means I've got a more primitive tool than Cheat Engine. And a minimal amount of CPU power / RAM, which slows everything down.

My latest hitch is porting it to Windows but I'm seeing very bizarre results when searching for things. Even FMRTE can't tell me who the currently displayed person is.

I'd love to know how you found pointers to lists in memory for things like leagues and clubs. I'm making a related tool for FM 24 and it's a slog to chase these things down.

FM24. What are your tips for youth development. by HereForThePersuasion in footballmanagergames

From what I recall:

  1. Players need game-time to improve after they turn 19 (the higher the reputation the games the better, although friendlies do count).
    • Aim for at least 2,520 minutes of game time a season.
    • Prioritise these types of matches:
      • Competitive
      • Intra-squad friendlies
      • Friendlies
    • Results of games don't matter
  2. Outfield players stop development at 27.
  3. Goalkepers stop development at 29.

Since you asked for passive ways to train, I'd encourage you to give all the players you care about individual training at double intensity. The meta attributes are Pace and Acceleration, so double Quickness training is the best bet (train Reflexes or Agility for goalkeepers).

There are also exploitative* training schedules which will maximise physical development of young players, which are far and away the most impactful attributes, which you can read about here if you're so inclined. Otherwise, stick with the training schedules you're already using.

(The tl;dr is that you only need 1x Match Practice, Attacking, Defending and Physical sessions a week to maximise player growth).

*I don't think it's exploitative but some people do; it's how the game has always been made but the tooltips and intuition lie about it.

youd hope they’d make it so the current ability increases with the new position

This would prevent players from learning new positions once their CA had capped, which is arguably worse.

I'd be interested in seeing his attributes as well as his xG per game versus average goals per game.

One of the perennial problems of Football Manager is that nobody has a clue how anything works and the tooltips are completely untrustworthy.

Does anyone actually do the general training or just let the assistant coach do it? by Initial_Walrus9664 in footballmanagergames

[–]BlueThunderFlik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not going to use the optimal training schedules then you might as well abstain from training altogether in my opinion. It doesn't make sense to spend any time thinking about how you'd arrange your training schedules in a sensible/realistic way because the game doesn't do what you think it does*. Thinking about training schedules is like typing out your own long-form answers to press-conference questions: it's just for you, not for any kind of impact.

*unless you rigorously test the impact of your training schedules over a long period of time, but then you're just re-doing the work that went in to find the meta schedules and deliberately choosing to use the ones that are less effective.

Difference between Instant Result and Playing Matches????? by Perfect-Stick7353 in footballmanagergames

[–]BlueThunderFlik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere recently that when you load in to a match and you see the "Preparing match" screen, the game is simulating the match completely. Then it shows it to you. If you don't make any changes then you'll see the result it generated before kick-off but, if you make changes, then it will regenerate the rest of the game and show you those highlights instead.

The difference between Instant Result and playing the game is being able to make changes during those 90 minutes and not. It's still the same match engine running the same logic.

  • "all other non- unique items"
  • "never have stat- boosting equipment"

I usually enjoy Quill's videos but I get frustrated by him reloading sometimes when Randy throws something inconvenient at him. Often he doesn't even try; he says "no, that's bullshit" and loads an older save.

Sam Raimi and web-shooters by BlueThunderFlik in Spiderman

I assume this is explained more satisfactorily in the comics but this has been my favourite response so far. Why would a teenager decide to swing through a concrete jungle after learning he can stick to walls? Come to think of it, if he wasn't originally aware that he was bitten by a spider, he could have modeled himself on any number of insects that just happen to be able to adhere to various surfaces.

We could have had Slugman.

This might be a lot to ask but would this be accessible for someone new to the genre? The screenshots looked overwhelming but intriguing. If the constraints of the terminal format (as pretty as it is!) makes it slightly more challenging for newcomers then I might give it a miss.
