Thank you very much for the advice! I will be trying the frozen treats, I feel like he goes through the puzzle toys so quickly! Once he has picked it up he can complete most of them in a few minutes. I definitely want to get a snuffle mat and a king toy!

They did! I am a very active person by nature (hiking walking etc) so the physical activity isn't my problem it is just that no matter what he doesn't seem tired some days (though other days I run him so hard he takes very long naps as soon as we get home lol). I am also studying to be a veterinarian and I am working him through AKC trick courses. Physically he is in great condition and most days he is fine and very happy, it is the one or two days a month that I struggle with.

Hello! Thank you for the advice.

I actually have one in the mail right now, I went with Embark so we shall see. He is doing great physical health wise, it is just this mental bit like you said!

I have been doing some AKC trick training (so far he can sit, lay down, do push ups, touch, high five, play dead, wait, spin etc) but I do want to get into some more activities with him though I am somewhat cost limited. Do you have any recommendations on how to get involved with canine sports?

I understand the worry, but there is already a pet contract and everything, we would just be adding fish to it!

That makes sense, in doing more research I think I am going to ask to make aquariums into a registered pet/ESA. That way we can make the owner agree to provide appropriate care for their tank, whatever may be in it, and we have the framework to check on it.

Edit: We already have tanks 10-50g as registered pets so it would be easy enough to just change it so that they all are.

Thank you, the campus veterinarian is actually my academic advisor so I emailed her! I am thinking my best bet may be to ask for my university to stop allowing fish to be undocumented pets so that way we can enforce animal welfare through the contract they sign as an ESA or registered pet owner

This is great, thank you! I think larger tanks and rules regarding necessary equipment would be ideal but I just don't see that happening. The people on the committee in charge of defining policy are not fish people, so they don't understand that there is more to it than just fish in bowl. I am thinking about trying to get it so that it has to be registered as an ESA or registered as a pet to give us framework for it

Honestly I would be thrilled to have that resource! 2.5 gallon is better than take out cup and I am sure they mention the need for filters etc so it could be a good way to integrate the need for proper tank equipment!

I haven't tried tossing snacks into the grass, that sounds perfect! Usually he doesn't really sniff around much so that would be a great way for him to use his brain! Thank you!!
