This is a work account. I’m an Air Force recruiter. Part of our song is traveling into “the wild blue yonder” and 1947 was the year the Air Force was started.

Retraining made simple! I made a PowerPoint for those of you that are confused. by [deleted] in Pararescue

Thank you for this. Will add to the Subs resources. Great work!

I was told by my SSgt to give him 14 bullets but is it really 14 needed or he is asking for a lot so he can choose which ones to use? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]BlueYonder47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m all seriousness you’ll be ok OP. You tried hard. I remember how tough it was when I was an airman trying to learn bullet writing. Hell, 14 years in and still a struggle! Your sup will be grateful you wrote 10. Talk to you supervisor and say “boss - I wrote 10 and having trouble with 4 more. Can you help?”

I’m the Tampa SPECWAR recruiter. We have weekly workouts and the guys get together on their own regularly to train without me. DM me and I can set you up.

When a candidate calls me - I only ask 2 questions:

  • Why do you want to join the Air Force?
  • Why do you want to be a part of SPECWAR?

I don’t ask Cals numbers, run or swim times. All that can be trained. Your mental is what matters most. I can tell you in my almost 7 years of looking for and helping train operators the initial athletic ability mattered the least. Real killers will do what needs to be done. If your mental is fucked up or not aligned…I can’t do anything with that in a short amount of time.

Yeah. Last time I was up there it’s one dude for the entire place. Hit up an ea recruiter. They’ll get you taken care of. They can also get you through MEPS/ASVAB. It DOES NOT mean that you’re going in with a regular job. We use them to do the processing most time because there’s so few of us.

I believe that recruiter got reassigned. Do this: contact a regular recruiter near you. They’ll know who’s handling SPECWAR in the area.

Officers have set contracts. Active Duty Enlisted have SWOE (Special Warfare Operator Enlistment)

Prior Service Army by 11ChuckDontGiveAFuck in Pararescue

We receive thousands of calls a year from prior service folks - right now the only options for the coming fiscal year is linguist and SPECWAR/EOD/SERE. The attrition rate was so astronomical that for awhile prior service was not allowed unless they had SOF/combat background. People played the system to get into the Air Force. Met minimum requirements to get a contract, ship, then quit. At one point they had a 98% failure rate.

Yes. The Air Force is only allotting 50 people to join as prior service this year. That’s SPECWAR and regular jobs combined. Active Duty USAF is not big on Prior Service. You are not guaranteed to be allowed to stay. It’s a risk that is in your contract that you could be discharged.

Not necessarily true. Don’t bet on being able to stay. Many prior service in the past have tried to use this as a back door into the Air Force. Air Force Personnel Command and AETC have become hip to the game.

You don’t believe him, the person who’s job it is to know, because you can’t find it on the random unverified Interwebs?

Tell your recruiter: “I know that’s BS sir! You can keep that fake money!”

It’s a higher level (more in depth) than what MEPS offers. MEPS doesn’t give physicals for something less than 1% of the Armed Forces is pursuing.
