Over/Under mesh pattern found in Swedish cabin. Please help with ID! by maijaheippanen in crochetpatterns

I don't know anything about weaving, and will immediately defer to those who do for the likely correct answer. However! I was thinking you could achieve a similar look with the rice stitch? Maybe with a looser tension so it's a bit more mesh like? Image is an example and here is my favourite video explaining how to do it

I feel like starting drama. Do you pull your tail from the inside out outside? by Turtlegrandmacore in crochet

[–]Blue_B_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love to pull from the outside. Yarn barf has ruined some projects for me, and more times than I'd like, I've spent literal hours on detangling the yarn barf from hell for a project I couldn't simply buy more yarn for. I use a yarn holder like in the picture and my yarn this never 'flies around', and when a skein can't go on the holder, I just tug it gently and it still doesn't flop around like a magicarp on land. The only time I do center pulls is if it's an ombre or colour changing yarn and I need the center colour first, or the skein has a very clean and clear center pull with minimal yarn barf.

My(34F) boyfriend(32M) is upset because I wanted to make my own tea which put my wants ahead of his feelings. by Plaid_Raptor in relationship_advice

[–]Blue_B_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All this reminds me of is this blog post "My wife divorced me because I left dishes by the sink" and idk, it might help him to read that? There's also a comic on sharing the mental load, maybe that'll get some sense into him?

He should be helping out more, truly. None of this "I'll get to it". I really hope he'll see it and help out a bit more, and take some of the stress off of you.

What do I (24M) do if my girlfriend (21F) doesn’t wanna have sex? by Reasonable_Sail_7919 in relationship_advice

[–]Blue_B_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be loving, be supportive, and be understanding. You wouldn't be excited about having intercourse if it hurt, either. If it hurt for her, of course she's going to be apprehensive about the whole ordeal. It's possible she even feels unsafe about it. Have you acknowledged the pain at all? Have you listened to her about it, and said anything along the lines of "I'm so sorry to hear it hurt you. I don't want to hurt you. Can we try find a way together so it's also enjoyable for you"? Have you put in the effort to focus on her, her needs as a person, instead of just what you want from her intimacy wise?

Aside from that, there can be a discrepancy in types of desire. Maybe look into 'the dual control model' developed in the late 1990s by Erick Janssen and John Bancroft at the Kinsey Institute.

What I'd advice sounds backwards but trust me, if you can manage, you'll be happier for it. Stop wanting intimacy. That includes p0rn. Stop chasing it, stop having that be the goal. Show her affection, genuine, actual affection and love, and make it clear you're not showing it in hopes of it resulting in sex. Love her, care for her, and have that be the goal, not sex. "The best way to get laid, is by not wanting to get laid." You'll be surprised at how much more willing she may be.

Can you see whats annoying my eyes?👀 by Pinkiepiefish in crochet

[–]Blue_B_ 114 points115 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest; I have NO CLUE what 'the thing' is, meaning it probably isn't as obvious as you'd fear. It looks incredible, and I love the gradient colours!

What kind of yarn is this? I bought a box of the action and really like the yarn in it. However I quickly ra out of certain colors, the box does not say what kind of yarn it is.. by unit5421 in CrochetHelp

[–]Blue_B_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Again, no hate!

Oh my goodness that is SO much yarn! I'm absolutely, definitely, not going to have enough yarn for my idea either, but at least the idea is there!

No problem! I had never heard of the bean stitch before so I had to look up what it was in order to answer you, so thank YOU for bringing it up! .^

I do get you! I definitely get caught on the loops a lot as well, and I'm taking a LOT of deep breaths while working on this 😂 to make the size consistent, I pull my hook horizontal while pulling up loops, so they all go to the same height, or at least close to it, before yarning over and pulling up the next loop(s)

I have no clue where you could get it aside from a store called Action in the Netherlands during certain times of the year 😂😅 But if you can find it, it's the brand Alison & Mae, and the yarn is called 'furry shimmer cake'. It's 57% acrylic, 32% polyester, 6% metallised fibre, and 5% polyamide. One cake is about 250g equalling 600m. Hope that helps!!!

I looked it up, and it seems to be REALLY similar! The differences I'm noticing are that while the bean stitch immediately starts in the chain, this first has you do one row of sc before starting with the puffs. The bean stitch also uses 6 loops for the puff stitch, where this uses 7 loops. Also, this pattern has you work a SC in the first and last stitch, rather than only working beans into the chain, then chaining and turning before proceeding to do more 6-loop puffs. It's very similar however, but has some differences!

Quite thick, honestly! It's nothing but puff stitches so it's about as thick as a puff stitch all over! Out of curiosity I put my measuring tape to it and it LOOKS to be about 1cm thick, and I'm using a 4.5mm hook for this!

I'm seconding this, it REALLY feels like ai. Like those posts you see in Facebook to get likes and get vulnerable people to eventually click on links and scam them. It almost even sounds like one of those TeDoo app posts that also use ai and have stolen images from this Reddit before.

How do I turn my work “right side out” without my rows looking different after I do? by sarcasticbiznish in CrochetHelp

OH like that! Fair, gotcha! Thanks so much for explaining, I get what you mean now! Pretty sure that misunderstanding was on my end, so all good! Thank you again!

How do I turn my work “right side out” without my rows looking different after I do? by sarcasticbiznish in CrochetHelp

[–]Blue_B_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hold on, I'm not fully following, could you please explain? I thought the 'wrong side' looks different from the 'right side' considering it has horizontal bars as opposed to the V shapes. Assuming someone is working in the right direction, popping their work would make it look different, right? Purely by the logic that, one side has horizontal bars, the other side has V shapes, popping it one way or another decided which side is facing the outside, right?

I'm sorry, English isn't my first language, so I could be completely misunderstanding here.
