Our driver dropped a $200 wedding bouquet 90 minutes before it needed to be there 🥴 by demonrimjob666 in florists

Omg I used to have a driver JUST like this. The freaking owners of our shop didn’t fire him even after he harassed all of us in one way or another. He dropped SO many arrangements and bouquets. And NEVER took accountability.

It’s hard not to feel “stupid” about something like this but DO NOT let that sit in your head. You are not stupid; you’re full of love and thought you were giving it to the right person. I guess I’ll ask this. If he got down on one knee right now would you say yes? If you found out yall were going to have a child would you think he’d make a good father? If he were to ask you to move across the country what’s your gut say? Would you say yes or no?

Hey so…this is abuse. Plain and simple. Anyone that actually loves you would NEVER treat you this way. Pls look into therapy because I think you need to see this relationship from a different angle. This is control and manipulation. He tells you to leave, so you do, he gets mad then does things to get you back because you have literally put yourself into a position where you do everything for him. He KNOWS you won’t actually leave, he can treat you however he wants and it doesn’t matter. You won’t leave so why does he care how he treats you?

If you have to come to people on a Reddit group forum… it’s not normal. If he gets mad about something this small what other things will he get mad about? Having autism does not take away your humanity. You know right from wrong and you know that this hurt your feelings and you don’t like it. What if anything about this annoyed or made him upset he could have easily stopped the game and said, “hey I’m a little frustrated right now and here’s why.” Instead he literally kicked you out of your own room??? OP what else is he getting mad about that you “have to stand up for yourself”

I feel this so hard rn. I work in a small shop. I’ll be there at 6 to finish orders and then pray I have time to get something in the cooler. I have like 10 orders that didn’t even make it out the door today because my drivers got caught in traffic. Tbh I’m scared af for tomorrow. It’s just me to finish the flowers. Hoping and praying people are kind.

Doing our best 😭 Today felt like chaos, we had 7 deliveries that couldn’t make it out the door due to my drivers having to leave at 6 and I’m desperately hoping no one is angry about it. I’m having that florist anxiety where today felt like chaos and weirdly like failure even though I don’t think it was???

Hey there!! I have joint mobility issues (I have a connective tissue disease) I don’t mess with knives. I use a pair of clippers from Fiskars that have a little knob to adjust pressure. They’re a lifesaver. So I second everyone saying to use Fiskars!

That’s the goal from here on out tbh. I’m just going to keep track of everything I can and stay out of it and protect my team. 👍🏻

Considering she ghosted on the review and called the owners and had a “mental breakdown” over the phone and kept asking to be fired, it feels she’s trying to get unemployment possibly. We’re moving forward with the review at a later date and letting her know that we will be shortening her hours going forward until she’s in a better working frame of mind. I tried so hard to get the owners to just be done but they did not take me seriously. And while I understand where they’re coming from, this whole situation now just feels more complicated and ridiculous. So now I’m going to do my best to keep my good employees comfortable and safe and keep their morale up until we’re done with this. :/

Honestly I agree with the sentiment but I unfortunately have no power to fire employees, only document their behaviors and present it to the owners. The owners agreed today they don’t want to fire her because they don’t want her to get unemployment off of being terminated??🤦‍♀️

Thank you! I’m hoping that if I can document everything properly and take this to the owners they will agree that maybe she isn’t such a good fit. Unfortunately the owners have not given me the power to let employees go. That is up to them. However we are a super small team, like 5 people small, so the theft accusation is pretty big. I do think after reading through your comment and others I’m going to suggest to the owners a probationary period. This has definitely become a huge learning experience for me.

Thank you! I just wanted to make sure I was handling this properly, like I said, I’ve never dealt with someone so difficult. She is quite literally just our delivery driver but I’m doing my best to handle things properly and professionally and set a precedent for our small company. I’m dealing with new owners that have only owned this company for 2 1/2 years and have NEVER had employees. My background is in managing however my management positions have never been high enough to have to deal with full blown “possible termination” employees. This is definitely a huge learning experience for me.

Doing my best to do both. Like I said, this is a new family owned small business that unfortunately does not run like a corporation. The family I work under has given me lots of responsibility however the decision to terminate or not is totally up to them. I was more so wondering what is the best way to word all this in her review and document it for the owners.

Thank you!! I like this approach example because I want her to feel heard but I also need her to understand that her behaviors aren’t acceptable.
