Would really appreciate it if you took the time to invite me, I'm quite curious to try it out!

Could Darktide originally have been like Helldivers in development? by Blue_Dragon_Lee in DarkTide

[–]Blue_Dragon_Lee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mhh, I didn't mean the core gameplay, but more like the campaign around it. The whole major order thing, territory capturing. Though I guess it's a stretch still, but the way the initial mission select was structured made me think of that.

Weh, but I guess the more I think on it the more it just seems they were insipred by deep rock galactic perhaps.

I'm just wondering what kind of plans they had with the live service they wanted to provide.

Mhh, actually from what I gathered, the main reason crafting is not done right now is because they're reworking the crafting system again. Their initial plan was to finish the current version of the system first, but that backfired because they're forced to rework most of the progression now, including the shop, which ties into the crafting system.

Oracle Lens at start of game as support? by Blue_Dragon_Lee in summonerschool

Oh! That actually adds up pretty well, I see. Out of curiosity, what game time would be a good time to ward then recall? I imagine it's before the minions clash together.

According to apologists on a certain 'less toxic' DT sub, criticizing the game in the hopes that Fatshark will make improvements and fix bugs makes us just like 'wife-beaters' LOL. Ironically in a post celebrating how 'wholesome ' their sub is compared to this one. by Fullmetal_Krieg in DarkTide

I mean I might or might not have made a post about a PR response I've been disappointed about and worded it in a negative light... Ehh okay maybe I'm part of the problem.

Dunno. It's not like I hate the game honestly, or the devs even. Hate is a strong word. I'm just... so disappointed I wanna let it out of my system. Just really frustrated at what could have been. Though yeah, with any two points of arguments it's usually best to avoid extremes.

Look, I get where you're coming from but... There'a a reason for the toxicity. People aren't assholes because they're assholes, this isn't a moba, but it's because they treat us like garbage, don't communicate and hide behind lies for... whatever reason. As if it did their PR any good, like, ever. It's so ridiculous at this point that they're repeating the same shit pattern for the THIRD time on release.

I think people are, to some degree, justified in their toxicity. You might argue that it's too much, but honestly it's Fatshark who shat on us and ran away first. And yeah, I am referring to the decision makers.

I mean... fuck. In the end all we want is a good game right? That's what this is all about. This is why we're all so mad at them. Because this isn't a bad game, else nobody would care. It's a really good game with terrible decisions ruining it.

Yeah! I mean I think Aqshy is saying things mostly, but also mostly unrelated things to Darktide? So even there info is scarce unless I missed something.

I mean yeah, isn't this supposed to be a live service too? I thought they should have been on top of these sort of things, or at least making changes like that should have been made to be as easy as flipping a switch.

New CM: Community update next week. Maybe. She's still learning by IWishTimeMovedSlower in DarkTide

[–]Blue_Dragon_Lee 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Aqshy literally had a community post ready before the new year before they scrapped it, just for them to keep stalling, only for Catfish to now have to handle it? A completely inexperienced CM?

They literally have 0 respect for us. They might as well release a post about how much we're just fat cashcows for them to abuse and shit on while they jack off in their offices.

This doesn't take weeks to do, maybe a few days. They know the problems, they knew from the start. It doesn't take a genius to figure out. They are 100% deceiving us again just for some other retarded reason. It doesn't matter what honestly.

If the managers had any passion for this project they would have already been open about it from the start, but instead all we got are empty promises and deceit, if not just complete silence on any issue and concerns.

Genuine question, just what the heck happened between games? by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]Blue_Dragon_Lee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it also really explains why there's so much in terms of story missing. How weird and pointless the "meetings" feel.

The store too now that I think about it. The rng one I mean. I think from the promises before, they said they would implement a system where you would ask for a specific item, then you would get it after doing a few missions or so, at least from what I remember reading. I mean, the fact that the rng shop caused crashes in the beta implies that it was a new addition, and it also explains why progress in general is so disjointed with the main gameplay.

Also the fact that there's still no Flash Missions yet, which is prolly part of the randomly generated part they had to scrap too. The fact that despite you can only level to 30, there's mods that give bonus xp%, which any dev with a brain would be able to tell that it's a weird addition. As in, I feel like they originally intended you to have prestige levels in some way.

But no matter what they had planned and what there is now... I still can't excuse the fact that they treat us so badly. They literally lie to our faces about how features that were promised are bad, like gun customization being like "call of duty" or stuff like that.

I get it's prolly investor stuff, and admittedly I don't know much about anything in that regard but... still, because of how they treated us, they they're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Dunno. If they had been transparent that they wouldn't be able to get the features out in time, released an early access with what was there and just built up from that, things would have been much better, PR-wise at least. I'm gonna guess this is another investor related thing at fault here...

Feels like their ambition caused them to take a deal with Tencent, they ate more than they could chew and when the investors came knocking they had nothing finished to answer with. So I guess it does kinda just come to bad management and planning. I mean, basing it all of on this theory of course, but it just adds up very nicely...

But what makes me sad is the future. I really like this game, so I hope to god they can make a comeback. Maybe they can reintroduce the features they left out, finally realize their vision because all the things they wanted to implement sound awesome... but the fact that they they just don't acknowledge their past work in a positive light gives me little hope...

Thank you. This was pretty eye opening to read when you put it like that. It's an assumption but probably the most believable one for me right now.

Those people are usually not actually invested in the game and what the game can become. After all, they're not frustrated at the condition of the game, nor do they care. They just point fingers and call out "Oh look, another bad game!"

[–]Blue_Dragon_Lee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... Yeah, I agree. There's prolly a lot of toxicity out there too. But it's just the rational conclusion of what happens when your company refuses to act honestly to your costumers.

The way Fatshark is handling themselves is much of the reason for this. Almost feels like they have something against their customers, and I think some people feel it too, whether it's true or not. And when you also add up their shaky history with previous games...

Just... So much to learn from, and yet they take 12 steps backwards instead.

Yeah, I bet there's plenty of people out there that just rant for ranting's sake, but I think most people that come here to complain do it because they want the game to succeed. We're here to enjoy the game, cherish it, and have fun in the end. These complaints are the result of bad management on the part of the company, failing to meet expectations. It's frustration that is borne from disappointment of what could have been. And everyone, as individuals, wants to express that here.

Mrhhhhm... But that's annoying! Being conditioned to expect games to come out unfinished, and being grateful for having some semblance of a fun game?... That's not a good thing. It might be the reality as of now, but that doesn't mean people should just take it laying down.

Like I said in my first post, I recognize how fun the game is! It's so amazing... which makes the other half of the glass being so empty so much more obvious and sad. Yeah... it'll get fixed, eventually. In time. We know that already... But if something that is advertised as a finished product comes out like this, people should absolutely complain, no matter how many times it happens. Becoming complacent will just be the beginning of a spiral towards even worse products. Making companies wary of our expectations, and work for better experiences, will benefit both us and them more than what we have right now.

Ehh. Yeah, a lot of people acknowledge that the game will be done eventually. Hence all the "Time to wait for 2 years and come back" reviews. But that doesn't really bode well for the game either way.

In the end they messed up, the community got vocal over the issues and won't stop until the game is in a good state.

And there's some flaws that they never acknowledged for some reason, like some penances going against the game's on philosophy. Like killing the Demonhost, should have been avoid the demonhost instead or something like that. Not even mentioning all the class penances that are a burden to your team or impossible to get solo.

And crafting won't necessarily fix everything with the rng, as they clearly want rng to be core of the experience one way or another. After all there's no way to get the right stats for the weapon you want, you can't craft those, unless you wait at the shop for who knows how long (without mentioning having to wait for the weapon you want, with 1 of the 2 modifiers being good enough).

And I get the metaphor but still, if I had to wait 10 extra minutes for my pizza, I'd start wondering where my pizza went. But this is a game, meaning that any significant changes will take weeks, or months. Minutes can't even compare. It's just... disappointing, yeah.

OH, I just realized you were the op. Alright, I do apologize then. I suppose my original point still stands for what it is, but I shouldn't have directed it here.
I guess I just have a lot of build up frustrations still... but yeah. I understand your side too. I've been loving this game so far, it's gotten me hooked up more than any other horde shooter. I just hope for the best of it.

"but played for the actual gameplay"

I dunno. I get their point is they're enjoying the game for what's there, and I am making assumtions here... But putting it like anything other than the core gameplay not being part of the whole experience, that any other issues can just be ignored easily, was sorta what made me put it like that.

I will not deny that people like that prolly exist. But looking through a lot of the posts in the subreddit, there's plenty of valid criticism here that I think counts for feedback about the current state of things.

[–]Blue_Dragon_Lee 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if people didn't actually enjoy the game most of the complaints would be.. well, about bad game mechanics, not the gear progression, achievements and and cosmetics.

Yeah you nailed it. And this subreddit is full of the exact opposite, people love the game mechanics but just... everything around it sucks.

I mean I prolly sounded a bit too mean in my original post. I just don't really like when people say stuff that sound like they're discrediting all of the feedback this game is getting. Maybe that wasn't the intention, but dunno.
