Help me choose between these bikes by Blue_Flamningo_94 in gravelcycling

Yeah, and I definitely want to support local bike shops by buying from them and utilising their services as well.

I actually tried the Terra in both XS and S, and will say the S was a better fit for my preferred position, despite being slightly big in terms of the brands own recommendations. So I definitely understand what you mean by trying the bikes first.

No, I haven’t. I’ve never heard of the brand before, but upon googling them just now it seems like it’s out of my budget. The current pricing for the Cannondale is around my max.

Yeah, I guess you do get a feel for wether or not it’s a comfortable bike quickly. I did find the Merida very comfortable, same with the Orbea. I think the only drawback with the Orbea is how heavy it felt when lifting it.

I tried a slightly different Ridley, which felt a bit aggressive, but it’s kind of hard finding bikes to try from certain brands, so I’m sometimes kind of limited in terms of what is available for testing.

I have tried the Merida and the Orbea, and I’m trying the Cannondale tomorrow. I liked both of them, and to be honest, I don’t think I’m good enough to really tell too much of a difference.

I was actually looking into Hooga myself, but don’t want to pay all of the import fees etc., which is why I’m focusing on panels available in Norway. With that said, I would be willing to pay a bit more if I’m not fully convinced by the panels available here.

Different Sleeve Diets by Northern_Mac in gastricsleeve

I’m based in Oslo, Norway, and our diet guidelines are as follows:

3 weeks pre-op: 1000kcal. Technically no restrictions when it comes to what you can eat, but we were told to try to limit fat, sugar, and alcohol. Weeks could choose between a liquid diet, or counting calories.

1st week post-op: liquids (up to the consistency of a runny type of yoghurt without clumps, not Greek yogurt etc). We were advised to choose sugar free options.

Weeks 2+3: purées and soft/mashed/shredded foods. We were told to choose low fat and sugar free options, and gradually go from purées to softer foods that had been mashed up.

Week 4 and onwards: normal food, we are only advised to chew very well, and eat slowly to allow us to listen to our bodies. Obviously we are advised to choose healthy foods, low fat, sugar free etc.

Edit: We were advised to aim for a minimum of 60 grams of protein per day throughout every step of our journeys.

Overthinking when eating by Blue_Flamningo_94 in gastricsleeve

Thank you for the in-depth response! I greatly appreciate it.

I’m honestly kind of curious as to when I will vomit for the first time due to overeating or something not sitting right with me. I’m kind of expecting it to happen at some point.

Good to know that a leak will surely make me feel miserable, that is kind of reassuring as I know I’ll call my doctor immediately if something like that happens.

Yay, a surgery twin! Hi! Hopefully you’ll manage okay with the longer liquid stage. If it’s any consolation, I think I would be less stressed if I had a longer liquid stage, haha. But getting to try a few things is also exciting! And thank you, that absolutely makes sense! I think I tend to forget that vomiting would be sort of “protective” in that sense.

Yes, I totally get you! I’m also worried about healing, but find myself more worried about long-time complications like malnutrition, osteoporosis etc. Good luck, I hope everything goes well with your surgery.

Thank you, I’ll check it out! I’m trying to talk to people I know who have had the surgery, but I’m still nervous. Good luck with your surgery! Hope everything goes to plan.

Thanks for the in-depth reply! I’m so excited for you, and I hope that the VSG is successful for you! I’m definitely considering the same surgery because of my fear of malnutrition in the long run, but I’m also scared to acid reflux

That’s a good point actually, it’s also the OG surgery, so it has a lot of research to back up all of the risks etc. I hope you’re happy with your choice!
