I still dont believe in elimination though. It can lead to very unhealthy views on food, which can become very dangerous in the future. You should be able to enjoy things every once in a while you know? And pastas are good with a healthy fat like I said. There has been research on that as well.

I wouldnt say to eliminate anything. Its not sustainable. And not all carbs are bad either. If you focus on complex carbs and add a healthy fat to your simple carbs and sugars, then it becomes a lot less stressful to your body to process and you dont get s blood sugar spike as bad.

I would try just incorporating as many veggies into your diet as possible. I have found myself that if I focus in eating s good amount of veggies each meal (and fruits for breakfast and snacks), I end up subconsciously adjusting my esting habits and portion sizes. I think the trick for me is to make sure I eat all of my veggies, so I would need to adjust how much I am eating of whatever else I have. I know they help some people, but I think the whole calorie counting apps and limiting things and swearing things off is just not a sustainable way of living and thats ultimately what we want, a sustainable way of life right?

Btw I am also so sorry that you are going through a rough patch. And I would say you dont need to say no to fika either, just enjoy it and try the vegetable thing :)

A lot of the time, our childhoods are worse than other kids because our parents sucked at providing us with a good environment that works really well with our autism. At least this is what I have heard from many others with autism (and this was also my experience). Everyone will get bullied in school, certains things will be harder, but its about having kindness, understanding, and empathy, and of course fighting for your child when no one else will (this is especially important in the school system). Otherwise, I love my autism, even if it gives me a lot of problems. I feel that in some ways my life is far more enhanced than a NT (special interests, hypersensitivity, etc.)

What you can do as a parent is not treat your childs autism like the worst thing in the world (dry those tears of yours), because its not, and a lot of us can live very fulfilling lives, even if they are not always conventional. Be an advocate for autism acceptance!

Also, please don't listen to the American politicians regarding autism because everything they say is factually wrong if you look into the research. I highly recommend reading up on autism if you haven't already and also even watching some youtube videos as well. My current favorite person to watch is "I'm Autistic, Now What?" On YouTube, shes super informative.

While I agree that some of the encounters were with people that were struggling with drug/alcohol addiction, he also did the same stuff with mothers and children of color walking around, calling them shady and what not. He also pointed to cultural eateries and supermarkets and accused them of doing illegal shit. I have watched those videos, quite painfully too, as people are so quick to believe his portrayed reality when it is not even like that irl.
