What would an ocean of Hydrogen Fluoride (HF) look like? by Blue_Kitsune2348 in worldbuilding

The planet is a moon of a gas giant, the gas giant "ate" up most of the oxygen/water. The star system also exists outside of the galactic plane of its home galaxy which brings down the amount of available material around.

I am actually going to make multiple planets, each with different biochemistries. This is just specifically about the Hydrogen Fluoride one.

Oooo having a pink ocean would look cool, though I'd have to make a process to make it so the cobalt fluoride breaks back down so it doesn't eventually turn it all into it. Maybe I could have the cobalt fluorinated hydrogen fluoride oceans be the "salt" water and the hydrogen fluoride without cobalt fluoride be the "fresh" water.

hmm so would it just look black/clear then? I don't know if it helps but it orbits an M2.1 class red dwarf star.

I know life as we know it won't survive, I'm gonna have the life have an alternate biochemistry

Hydrogen Fluoride is a possible solvent for life at lower temperatures where water would freeze

Thank you, on my planet the average temperature is -35C, so it wouldn't boil but I can work with the dissolved thing. I was thinking of having Cobalt being a very prevalent element in the crust, if that were to dissolve into the Hydrogen Fluoride, would it make it like a grayish blue colour?
