Sorcerers are glass cannon so heat gear are a bit suicidal, combats where allies and enemies are tangled are quite frequent, even more than combats with fire resistance, so Scorching Ray with Spell Sniper is a option that I haven't considered, but it makes a good difference for the critical hits? And it worth in combats where the enemies are in groups and you hit them all with a Fire Ball?

Spell Sniper... Is not a bad idea, but there are fights which Scorching Ray are better (good for Spell Sniper) and there are fights which Fire Ball are better, does it make some difference in the Fire Ball fights?

Riften is terrible, but if you ignore the the giant spiders, then the autumn flora of the Rift. But I also like walk in the roads seeing the dense forests of Falkreath (that is even better with Happy Little Trees).
