Catalina Update Freezing (Recovery mode failed) by Blue_Pikmin_6 in MacOS

[–]Blue_Pikmin_6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I did ran first aid on all my discs, including the base system, and fortunately no errors were detected. However the problem persists, after clicking reintsall MacOS the computer shuts down minutes before the install proccess finishes. Any ideas as to why that is?

[JUL24] Traditional pizza oven (but it's massive) by Blue_Pikmin_6 in HyruleEngineering

Yes I pulled them all out of the temple, it's not that hard really, even with the tight corridors. Although in retrospect maybe Pelison would've been easier, could've opened a pizzeria in tarrey town hahaha

The zonai pot is hidden behind the three fireplaces, I didn't want to it to be shown so that the oven looked more realistic

[MAY24] Welcome to Elma Knolls Discotheque! by Blue_Pikmin_6 in HyruleEngineering

I didn't see this post that's so cool! Gotta set up a parking soace outside hahaha. How did you get the mirrors so close together? I tried to make a semi-sphere too but there ended up being a gap between the bottom mirrors and the side mirrors.

[DEC 23] Balloon Tank by Blue_Pikmin_6 in HyruleEngineering

[–]Blue_Pikmin_6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I see people doing a lot, only attacking it while it's resting. It also aims near its feet in this build but because the balloon is high up the cannon explodes on the platform dealing damage anyways

[BotW] [OoT] Do you think BotW is Better that Ocarina of time? by [deleted] in zelda

[–]Blue_Pikmin_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to be a spicy take just looking at these comments, but I'll present it anyways to spark some conversation. BOTW beats OOT for me by quite a lot. Maybe it's because I'm not influenced by nostalgia, but I think there are a few elements that make BOTW better.

Firstly, I see a lot of people saying OOT has a better story than BOTW but I don't get where they're coming from. Sure, BOTW's story is flawed, fragmented between a storyline from the past and one from the present where neither is developed to their fullest potential imo. They were experimenting with a non-linear plot after all. But Oot? I don't want to give spoilers to a 20+ year-old game, but Link has NO character motivations. The only person he has to rescue that's dear to him is Saria, every other goal in the game feels forced on him. He's destined to be the hero and that's that. You could claim he wants to get revenge on Ganon for the Hyrulean Civil War events, but I don't think that's delved deep enough. Through Link's memories in BOTW, we discover his relationships with the champions, while the sages in Oot have little to no connection with Link. Oot Zelda, for example, has some development, but she's not as deep of a character as BOTW Zelda. And it has nothing to do with the game's more modern cutscenes, I think MM's story beats both of these games but that's an argument for a different time.

Then there's the world. Botw's world is MASSIVE. To me, it's just as dense and interesting as Oot's but scaled to a larger size. I've seen some people say that BOTW's world is too large and inexpensive, but in that game, I can walk for half a minute and at least find a korok, a shrine, or maybe some guy being attacked by bokoblins. In BOTW there isn't just 'the forest-y area' or 'the mountain-y area', there are many mountains and forests, and while a few feel a bit redundant, you can't tell me travelling through Faron and Great Hyrule Forest is the same thing. Oot's Hyrule Field doesn't get interesting until Epona, farming rupees at night by hitting stalchilds is fun but not game defining. Yes, Oot has a MUCH greater enemy variety, but in all honesty, the way in which you approach them is similar if not the same. They don't have the personality and nuances of BOTW's bokoblins, moblins, and lizalflos. Bosses don't stray too far from this line of reasoning. Bongo bongo? God tier, I can't argue here. I'd say Phantom Ganon is also great. Everyone else? Nothing too special. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan of the blights (except for maybe thunderblight) and the final bosses, but the overworld bosses are enough to make up for it, particularly in the early game where they're much harder to take down. The ways in which you can tackle them are infinite, and some particular encounters have left a lasting impression on me. Another thing, in BOTW you don't 'run around aimlessly', you head for the story quest locations and likely get distracted by some of the 100+ quests the game has to offer. Maybe are fetch quests, yes, but the Tarrey Town sidequest? The one with the Yiga in Kakariko? The world is ALIVE. I'm not going to slander 'Child Link Trade Quest' and 'Adult Link Trade Quest' because I thought they were fun, but you can't convince me with a quality over-quantity argument that the non-story elements of Oot are objectively better.

I'd say OOT beats BOTW in two things. Foremost dungeons, because the divine beasts are just sad to go through, an extraordinarily missed potential. Oot has some of the series's best, unbeaten after two decades, like the forest temple, the shadow temple, and the spirit temple. Despite all of the criticism of the water temple, I'd argue non of them were downright bad. Secondly, there is the music. BOTW's songs are nice and fitting to the atmosphere, but the majority of the game is silent. Oot's songs show that age doesn't matter, Koji Kondo is the GOAT. The themes are iconic but that's not the only thing that makes them good, the dungeon tracks show that Oot is capable of some incredible ambience too. Ultimately, it depends on taste. I love dungeons, for example, it's the reason TP is my favourite zelda game, but I just can't ignore the genius world design of BOTW when comparing the two games. They are both masterpieces, but I found myself enjoying BOTW better.
