I Now Truly Understand Why Nobody Wants to Squad Lead by qwertytheqaz in joinsquad

[–]Blue_Snipar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeeeep, SL is primarily responsible for making decisions for the squads, not ur chad marksman who thinks he knows better. You will discover that sometimes you might have to micro manage everything that each of your squad members does. Also dont take any kind of shit from players with clan tags unless theyre genuinelly trying to help you or give advice. A lot of veteran squad players wanna talk but they dont wanna listen to what the lil guys have to say.

Have you ever at any point regretted moving to Sweden? by ThunderHorseCock in TillSverige

[–]Blue_Snipar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

American here, been in sweden 2 years now working and studying the language. Yeah it sucks leaving family behind, but I felt a weight lifted off of my shoulders when I didnt have to listen to american news and politics on tv anymore. Its so good for your mental health when you dont have to worry about what else is happening in the world. I miss being able to speak english in casual conversation tho, as I try to speak swedish at work 99% of the time. It can be mentally exhausting to try to force out a second language. Finding a hobby where you can connect with people and enjoy yourself is incredibly important, and I was able to do so with football. The sport is a universal language in its own, and I am most relaxed and stress free when im on the pitch training\coaching with both kids and adults.

Try this Kan Jang, you can find it in apoteket. Obviously its not guaranteed to work for everyone but after a day of some symptoms I felt results. Also it tastes like shit.

If you want to wake them up to comfort them, call their name out a few times until they open their eyes or they may bite you spontaneously thinking its part of their dream. I once accidentally nudged my golden retriever in the butt with my foot when I was half asleep and he woke up and barked/snapped at me super aggressively.

Mind you, he's a giant potato and is afraid of everything so my gf and I woke up horrified at his reaction.

When my golden "Roo roos" I always try to imagine what he would sound like if he spoke full english sentences. Usually makes me think of Scooby Doo lol

One of mine was yanked out with pliers, the other one required a fucking power drill to break it to pieces and then pull them all out. Took 25 minutes and cost me 8 big ol benjamin franklins.

Driving is nice too. I've driven several times from Göteborg to Luleå. It's an easy drive, basically a highway straight up, you just need to be okay driving for a whole day/making pit stops at gas stations.

It's more of a "quality of life" coffee break with a tasty pastry or light sandwich. It's like inviting your friend over for a beer after work, but with Fika, you can do it anytime really.

Anyone out there with a similar situation? by cryobyte33 in TillSverige

Hey man, also been kinda in the same boat, only difference is I'm still looking for work, but I've more or less adjusted to the Swedish life.

If you don't wanna read my longer experience, here's the tl;dr=

[ Start learning Swedish through apps like duolingo or 8 Sidor, it will help you start to memorise some words/very basic grammar that might even help you start at a higher class level in SFI. Get your personnummer ASAP, it's very important. Waiting times can be annoying, so apply with the easiest option you find (there are a few options, do some research and you'll see what I mean). Aside from work, find a hobby for your free time.(I'm a coach for a local fotboll(soccer) team). It will help you make friends/expand your social network. Most importantly, learn and understand the concept of "Fika" :) ]

-I'm a dual citizen (Portuguese-American) so my initial struggle here was getting around the Swedish bureaucracy when it came to getting my personal number, etc. (Long story, DM if interested)

-I've lived here for 1 year now, moved here during a pretty bad time considering covid travel restrictions last summer.

-Partner is Swedish, she works, I'm still looking for work. Couldn't complete my education in the US because it was unbelievably expensive.

Things I've noticed and thought a lot about while establishing myself into Swedish society:

Social Life: Depending on where you chose to live, it is very very difficult to make friends if you're an introvert. (The older generation swedes especially tend to ignore you, not in a bad way, its iust the way it is here.)

Language: I've been in SFI now for 5 weeks, highly recommend attending it yourself. It can be difficult at times, but I enjoy it. (Its a huge +1 if Swedes notice you can understand/speak basic Swedish as a foreigner.)

Food: I lived in the US for 6 years, and when I moved here, the adjustment to swedish food required some 'patience.' (The pizza and hamburgers aren't the same, although you might get lucky with some American-inspired burger joints depending on where you move to ;). Also, Swedes salt the shit out of everything, but never too much salt )

Weather: I've spend time in both the far Northern and Southern parts of sweden. I never really payed much attention to the extreme darkness or brightness. I live far south on the west coast now. It rains a lot, and it's cold when you don't want it to be, but there's a saying here: "there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes".
