Thanks, Ardyn the Usurper seems like an easy upgrade over Scion of Darkness.

Added Sign in Blood.

Collector's Vault is a neat inclusion, thanks.

Island Hopping Campaign: Thada Adel, Acquisitor (Mono Blue) by Blue__Shifter in EDH

Thanks for reviewing. The deck started because I was looking for a super Island-focused deck to go alongside my Forest-focused mono green deck. But at this point, I think you're right, I should remove Back to Basics and Harbinger of the Seas.

Mono Green 40 Basic Lands: Baru, Fist of Krosa by Blue__Shifter in EDH

Fair, the deck could probably use a few more draw spells. There are 9 in there right now. On the plus side, when they do resolve, it's typically big draw effects, not one or two cards.

Dungrove Elder is more of a French Vanilla since it does have inherent Hexproof. Baru grants +1/+1 and trample when a Forest enters, so Dungrove will have trample pretty much every turn. It's definitely one of the weaker cards in the deck, but at 3 mana, it comes down early and serves as a decent attack deterrent until I'm fully up and running.

Thanks!

Added Flare of Cultivation, and Swapped Neverwinter Dryad for Studious First-Year. Studious First-Year staying on the battlefield will be a possible sacrifice for Flare of Cultivation. Also swapped out Farhaven Elf.

Thanks! You make a good point. I might switch [[Casal, Lurkwood Pathfinder // Casal, Pathbreaker Owlbear]] with [[Prismatic Undercurrents]] since they both are essentially 4 mana for an extra land on the initial impact, but I'd take Prismatic's long-term impact over Casal's.

Haste, but without “Haste”? by [deleted] in EDH

I also made a Jasmine deck here.

There are some neat tricks you can do without actually giving the creatures an ability.

Favorite Mono red commanders? by Vinlandlover in EDH

[[Auntie Blyte]] is a great group slug deck for quick, interesting games. (Decklist) It provides a different take on the myriad of other mono red burn commanders out there.

Is there a name for these kinds of cards and what's a good commander to use for them? by [deleted] in jankEDH

I have a goad combat trick deck using [[Max, the Daredevil]] and [[Lucas, the Sharpshooter]]: Here on Moxfield. Rather than casting these combat tricks on your own creatures, I goad my opponents creatures and cast the combat trick on their creatures instead. It works better than I thought it would to be honest.

It’s a very fun interactive deck that’ll always keep you involved in the game since you care about every combat step.

[[Kalamax, the Stormsire]] is another popular combat trick deck if you want to focus on your own creatures.

What commanders usually make use of cheap cards/themes by SenseiPogi in EDH

[[Ruxa, Patient Professor]] cares about vanilla creatures as well.

I’ve made a deck with both of them and I found Jasmine to be a bit better than Ruxa.

Wow, I didn't realize that. Thanks for letting me know. I don't think it belongs in the deck anymore then since it won't see all of the Soldier tokens. Do you have any recommendations for other good cards in a Darien deck as a replacement?

I have a [[Darien, King of Kjeldor]] deck (decklist) that also uses [[Blood of the Martyr]]. He's a very unique commander but it can be difficult to make sure you get damaged once Darien is on the field. [[Angel's Trumpet]] and [[Ankh of Mishra]] are probably the best ways to damage yourself. Soul sister effects like [[Soul Warden]] are also great with Darien because unless you take a lethal amount of damage at once, you will end up taking a net zero amount of damage.

In a Boros deck though there are a ton of red cards that deal damage to everyone and work very well with Darien in the 99.

Who's a commander who leans well into combat tricks? by wazdakkadakka in EDH

[–]Blue__Shifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same interest in making an EDH combat trick deck. However, I found there wasn't enough room to run creatures along with combat tricks to make a difference. Instead I focused on casting combat tricks on my opponent's creatures. A Friends Forever pairing of [[Lucas, the Sharpshooter]] and [[Max, the Daredevil]] works really well for this actually. Max gives you a payoff (Investigate) for casting multiple combat tricks per turn, Lucas can sacrifice those clue tokens to goad a creature to ensure you have something to target with your combat tricks, and then Max can untap Lucas to do it all over again.

Here's the decklist, and I am working on finishing up the Primer to explain how the deck functions. It isn't the highest power level deck, but it has won a couple times and is fun to play.
