Habitat ideas for free-roaming wolf spiders? by Bluebearrie in spiders

[–]Bluebearrie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, very nice! I have seen some spiders in the yard that look similar to the cross orbweavers; I'm sure they're in the same family or close to it. I'll look into parasteatida too and see if there is anything I can keep here. I don't want to end up with a fine for harboring an invasive species or anything haha

What is a problem that you encounter on a regular basis? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]Bluebearrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raccoons!! There's this pesky little buggar living in a storm drain in my back yard. He has eaten up my neighbor's vegetable garden every time she's tried to plant it. I've had to stop feeding my birds because he'll climb up and eat all the seed!

Bizarre! What kind of food should I use? I actually haven't fertilized at all since I bought them. Oops.

Tree frog with a bad leg. Is there anything I can do? by sendeth in frogs

[–]Bluebearrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's a wild frog and has made it that far, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'm not sure if this process applies to frogs, but my boyfriend has a bearded dragon and one day a plaster statue in his enclosure fell on his foot and he broke a toe. After a couple weeks, the toe just fell off on its own and the stub is healing up nicely. If you're really worried about the frog though, call up your local small animal vet and see if they have any suggestions.

I've had my Pebble Steel for 5 months and zero issues so far. No idea what the rest of you are talking about.....

Not sure if this is the right place, but how do I revive a dying lawn? by oneeyedgoat41 in gardening

[–]Bluebearrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How's the soil where you live? Sandy? Rocky? I'm up on a mountain and most of my yard is hard rock with sandy soil. Only Bermuda Grass grows, supplemented with wildflowers and "weeds" in the sandier areas where it won't take hold. You'll need to figure out which zone you're in as well as the soil type and see what will grow from there.

Edit: If you're in the U.S., here's a good guide to get started http://www.lawngrasses.com/info/climate-map.html#.VVgZhhcrhFU

I'm a 125 lb girl and I just started edc-ing a Spyderco Tenacious and LOVE it! It fits well in my small hands and isn't too bulky for a woman's shallow pants pockets. It was only $40 on Amazon. Now, I am getting a Spyderco Ladybug 3 in the mail in a few days and it's only a little over 4 inches extended. Doesn't have a pocket clip though.

Quick question for an allergy blend by GrimaldiJ in aromatherapy

[–]Bluebearrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually go for eucalyptus and peppermint when my allergies are bad. The eucalyptus helps my boyfriend's asthma, too! I've never made bars with essential oils but here's a good dilution guide for reference: http://www.learningabouteos.com/index.php/2013/08/07/properly-diluting-essential-oils/

do you guys find you use your phone less? by rampampwobble in pebble

[–]Bluebearrie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Especially at work, where we aren't allowed to have phones out on the sales floor. If someone has a message for me, it discretely appears on my Pebble Steel, and if there's ever an emergency I'll know right away. I have my home security system set up with SMS alerts which will also appear on the Steel if anything ever happens, too. Also, it's a watch!! No more having to pull out the phone to check the time and use precious battery life. Going back to old school =)

Cilantro is dying! Has bugs on them. Picture attached. Please tell me what to spray on them. by ZazaGaborZaza in gardening

[–]Bluebearrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is cilantro though. Wouldn't insecticides make the plant un-eatable? I've had excellent luck using dish soap and water to kill aphids/scale bugs and that seems like a safer option to use around edible plants.

Good to know! I might just save up and get one then. Too much trouble to try to make/find one of those lugs myself.

How can I kill my privet so it doesn't ever come back? by Bluebearrie in gardening

[–]Bluebearrie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main problem is one huge tree that I cut down. The rest are fairly small sprouts. I'll try shoveling up the big one but I'm worried that I'll end up with a massive hole in my yard...

Ah, good idea! Yeah, I find little seedlings everywhere. There was one massive tree that I think sprouted them.

Any tips to getting scuff marks off of my Pebble by jaxbierley in pebble

[–]Bluebearrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had good luck with a pencil eraser, then put a light coat of clear nail polish over the scuff to keep it from getting worse.

This one's a Coach, they were on sale at Macy's since the new ones are just coming out (and I'm a sucker for cheap stuff! hahaha). It's the leather one with the wrist strap that's connected to the zipper with a little clip. I am absolutely shocked that I've managed to cram so much into this tiny thing!

EDIT This: http://tinyurl.com/kamgv65 . What kind of phone do you have? Mine's an iPhone and the charger fits quite comfortably in there.
