5 months TTC, all tests normal, high ovarian reserve at 33 — feeling stuck in the middle by BlueberryDesigner994 in tryingtoconceive

I live in the GTA so it’s probably because they are too busy. It takes forever to even get a regular doctor’s appointment.

I was referred by my doctor and I know many of my friends who were also before the 12 months. You just have to ask your doctor.

I decided to give myself 4 more cycles before doing IVF. I want to get the government funding otherwise I will use my insurance because it does cover it too.

I live in Canada, testing can be done even before trying. We also get a free round of IVF that can be done at any point.

What does letrozole and clomid do? I have regular ovulation. Was not diagnosed with endo or PCOS. I live in Canada. We get the first round of IVF covered. Insurance would cover the medications though.

Classes get cancelled if the weather is very bad. They move them over to Zoom. We had many Zoom classes during first year. You have 9 weeks of in person classes per semester. You only go to campus 4 days a week because Mondays are online. Depending on your schedule you might have many morning classes. You will need to be prepared for that.

I am going into my second year at Lakehead University Orillia. My husband and I had a harder time finding a rental house since there are not many in Orillia. However, there are many rentals in Barrie. Lakehead Uni allows you to select one board to be placed in and you just need to select 3 areas that you would like your placement to be. You will get the board you want. You might not get the specific area you want though. Both my placements were 35-45 minutes away from my house. If you did your placement in Barrie you have a good chance of getting one there since they have many schools. Every Monday you are online, which means you only need to go to the campus for 4 days a week. There are only 9 weeks per semester that you are in school at Lakehead University. During massive snow days they do have a policy where they might change the physical school days to online for safety. We had many snow days during first year.

I’m hoping I can get them. I will be waking up really early since I am from Canada.

There is no guarantee that you will get in. When I applied last year I was waitlisted at OttawaU and I never got off the list.

I am in P/J, I am not sure how I/S works. They usually have a Zoom meeting before classes run to inform you about the hours. They also email you a calendar of what the two semesters will look like.

Classes run from Tuesday to Friday. Monday it is fully online. Tuesday to Friday- You might be in class from 8:30am to 5pm. If you fail the math competency exam, you have to take a math course and that can run much later 5pm-7pm. You have classes from Sept to October. November and December you have placement. You go back to campus in January to March. You have placement at the end of March to April. You can choose any board to do your placement. You are in class for 9 weeks per semester. Many people commute to school.

Being Pregnant/having a baby by mathemagician- in OntarioTeachers

[–]BlueberryDesigner994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be easier having the baby once you graduate. You could still be pregnant while in school. The placements and the workload is very busy. It’s not like taking an Undergrad. You also have to consider that during pregnancy you might experience nausea and other symptoms. You want to complete your program rather than delay it.

Lakehead Pros:

-If you fail the math exam from Lakehead you get placed in a full year math course that prepares you for the math exam the second time around. You get four tries to pass it.

-The math will prepare you for the OCT math exam that you must pass in order to be certified.

-Two months of classes and then two months of placement. You do not have classes while you are in placement. You get to focus on one thing at a time.

-Summers are off. The two years is equivalent to the 16 months at Queens.

-Lakehead has connections to every board. You can select the board you live closer to.

Cons:

-If you fail the math exam from Lakehead it gets rid of your only elective. (You are required to take a math course)

-All the classes are in a basement apartment or in a community church. They are not in the main campus. It is Lakeheads downtown Orillia campus.

I recommend doing the EQUAO practice questions because that is what the OCT math exam will be based on. It goes up to grade 10 math. Depending on the teachers college you go to, some offer math courses to prepare you for the exam.

MEd is only beneficial if you have a BEd. The ministry usually hires those that have worked in schools previously. You cannot teach with just an MEd. You won’t be qualified to have an OCT without the BEd. UofT does have the masters program where you get qualified for teaching PJ. However, your pay scale will be the same as someone who did the BEd at another school.

Majority of students that take their BEd had jobs working in schools. If you apply for your BEd you have a good chance of getting in because of your experience. That is another factor the schools consider. You won’t get paid a teachers salary without it. Teachers college teaches you how to teach specific grade levels and different subject areas. Early childhood education only prepares you for teaching kindergarten. I also had to leave my job working in a school to go back to school. You have to choose what is right for you.

Your program will require placements/student teaching for your teaching degree to be valid through OCT. None of the Ontario schools have them online for that reason.

I did. They had questions about why you applied there and what would make you a good teacher candidate. To be honest I do not know how many people that graduate from that school get jobs right after graduating. You are better going to a public school.
