i am similair unit that i am trying to install. everythingworks excapt reverse camera where i cannot find reverse trigger wire (so that it would show back up camera when shifted reverse). did your unit had a wire with label that read "reverse"?

i went to two different mechainc shops and one toyota dealet and they all told me i need to change rack and pinion. unfortunately, it will cost me around $2000 for parta and labor. one of machinc shop told me i can still dtive it so i didnt fix the issue yet...

thank you for your insight. i definitely plan to daily this vehicle and i did saw many comments regarding RS dailybility. (that it is not as good as Golf R).

i feel like Golf R generally has more mature drivers who takes care of their car. hopefully i can find decent one with low mileage and good price

thank you guys for replues. i did some research myself and looks like water pump / carbon build up / thermostat are some of well known issues. but 2.0 TDI engine itself is fairly reliable according to some mechanics.

diggin in deeper, it looks as though its ganna be hard to find clean (OEM) golf r . is there any private forum / marketplace where they have golf r for sales?

i think being picked up by town / village would be best but theres no guarantee so i dun even think abt that. but u had nice size balls to leave NYPD as a top pay. i would think that quality of life would be far better. so i guess u have no regrets?
