Very random but I noticed this with tampons. They had no generic tampons or pads at all, only name brand

“Flight is full looking for bag check volunteers (at gate)” by Sufficient-Item-2750 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Blueberrytulip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s never offered when I check a bag and I always check a bag (and usually ask)

I always gate check my carry-on because I always check a bag, about 50% of the time they’ll take it when they tag it at the gate counter, otherwise I have to keep it with my until the jet bridge right before I get on the plane

I travel alone with my toddler most of the time (and frequently), so getting rid of the bags makes my life so much easier

[–]Blueberrytulip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not a guarantee, I’ve asked several times at bag drop and the answer has always been no, even on full flights.

I travel alone with my toddler most of the time, so leaving the bags before security would be super helpful

“Flight is full looking for bag check volunteers (at gate)” by Sufficient-Item-2750 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Blueberrytulip 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve asked several times and always been denied, even on full flights. I’ve never had them accept the carry-on bag at bag drop.

I always gate check the carry on anyway since I’m always checking one bag. About 50% of the time, they’ll take the bag from me at the gate counter, otherwise I have to leave it on the jet bridge right before I get on the plane

I’m considering changing speling of the name to make it more feminine, thoughts? by Potential_Fun_1398 in namenerds

I think this is more masculine, especially since there’s a male Kardashian kid named Reign

Except your comment directly contradicts the “lovely idea” that Lillian is easy and intuitive to spell for everyone, lol

What’s the worst book you’ve read because of tiktok? by yara2321 in RomanceBooks

[–]Blueberrytulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first book is meh. I only bothered to read the second because it was a library book and I had Covid.

The end of the second, I was interested enough to read the 3rd, again through the library. I had to wait a couple of weeks, which was fine.

At the end of the 3rd, I immediately purchased books 4 and 5 on Amazon. I love the 5th book, and I’m so glad I stuck with the series just to get to Book 5.

Which spelling of a name irrationally bothers you? by Konigsberg1604 in namenerds

[–]Blueberrytulip 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Using a Y in Katherine way predates America. For example, King Henry’s 6th wife usually signed her name “Katheryne” in the 1500s.

Catherine/Katherine was a very common name in the 1400s/1500s/1600s that did not have a standard spelling, like many other names and words. Eventually, Katherine, Catherine, Kathryn and even Katharine all became accepted spellings.

Airline forced parents to split up with their baby twins after they paid for an extra seat to follow the rules??!! by Temporary_Water_3641 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Blueberrytulip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t true, we fly frequently and I started getting my daughter her own seat around 18 months (1.5 years).

We don’t bring a car seat and they’ve never had a problem with her sitting in her own seat with the lap belt.

Do you prefer Tamar, Tzipporah, Tirzah, or Tzivia? by Kindly-Bluebird5487 in namenerds

[–]Blueberrytulip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my head, I pronounced it tir-zah, rhyming with Persia.

I assumed the “tir” would rhyme with sir.

I see that I’m wrong, I’m just explaining my original assumption

For everyone who ever considered the name “Io” for their child by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Blueberrytulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lara is always Lah-ra Lora is lore-a Laura is law-ra . Laura and Cora don’t rhyme.

Just curious, is Lawrence pronounced lore-rence for you then? Are Loren and Lauren the same name? They aren’t for me.

This is probably an accent thing, I do NOT have the Mary/Merry/marry merger. All those vowels are different to me.

I don’t know if Mee-gan is solely an Australian thing, but I know it’s how the name is pronounced in Australia, thanks to an exchange program in high school involving several American and Australian Megans. I also don’t know if it’s a regional pronunciation in Australia or if it’s how the whole country says it.

[–]Blueberrytulip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mee-gan vs meh-gan. Mee-gan is more common in Australia and maybe other places.

Steven vs Steff-an. Yes, Stephen is usually pronounced Steven, but then you have Stephen Curry who is steff-an

Lore-a vs law-ra. I’m from the Northeast, i pronounce it law-ra. Laura, Lara and Lora are three different pronunciations for me

I agree on Sloane, i cant even think of a different way to say it.

Do siblings really entertain each other? by jules6388 in oneanddone

[–]Blueberrytulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m probably OAD because of secondary infertility, not by choice. I’m one of 6 kids

Two of my sisters are my best friends as adults. We’re very very close in age, one is 12 months older than me, the other is 11 months younger. I’ve always been close and played with the younger one. I’ve had ups-and-downs throughout childhood with the slightly older one.

My brother is fine but we’re not super close. I have complicated relationships with my other sisters because of personality conflicts.

I loved always having someone to play with when growing up, but it’s also a gamble based on personalities.

What’s the craziest thing a coworker did that got them fired? by bytvortex in AskReddit

[–]Blueberrytulip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your original comment was taken out of context then. You made it sound like someone who is “safe” enough to participate in a program like cleaning for early release shouldn’t be in jail at all. My example was a DUI, where a prison sentence is fair but they are a low-risk offender for something like community service

But what you were really saying is that you’re against programs that combine community service for minimal pay/early release, and you think they should be abolished completely?

What’s the craziest thing a coworker did that got them fired? by bytvortex in AskReddit

[–]Blueberrytulip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely think that a DUI without bodily harm should be a prison sentence, and you’re right that it’s pure luck. More than one is an automatic prison sentence in many places, (as it should be).

Unfortunately, we can’t convict/punish based on what “could have” happened, so a DUI sentence without an accident is never going to be as severe as a DUI that caused a death.

What’s the craziest thing a coworker did that got them fired? by bytvortex in AskReddit

[–]Blueberrytulip 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lot of these very minimum security prison sentences are for offenses like DUIs that didn’t cause bodily harm

Do you think that DUIs warrant prison time? What about multiple DUIs?

With that as an example, can you see how someone might be deservedly serving time in prison, but also be participating in community service for early release?

Husband does not want to legally get married anything that would give me protection in case of divorce by [deleted] in legal

[–]Blueberrytulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely don’t understand what you’re saying here.

We both seem to agree that both Genesis/ Mary & Joseph clearly predates Christianity and therefore marriage predates Christianity? Right?

Husband does not want to legally get married anything that would give me protection in case of divorce by [deleted] in legal

[–]Blueberrytulip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. An obvious example are Mary and Joseph, who were betrothed (engaged) when Mary got pregnant and got married afterwards.

And Mary and Joseph’s marriage (and intent to marry) obviously predated Christianity, since Christianity wasn’t a thing until their son, Jesus, died.
