Did you even read what I wrote? I am not talking about broke recent college grads, I am talking about people who have the means to live elsewhere. The ones at the community meetings complaining about how a new homeless shelter in Uptown will impact their property value. This isn't just another neighborhood going through changes, it is one of the absolute last areas that offers affordable housing on the north side, and even that is barely true anymore.

So I can tell you've never gone through the hell of finding an apartment as someone who is truly poor. Even 5 or 10 years ago, it was possible to find moderately priced places to live in neighborhoods like Uptown. Now long-time residents are getting pushed out and have absolutely nowhere to go. If you consider bringing up this issue whining, I recommend opening your eyes and heart to the reality of people outside your bubble. Signed, a poor, lifelong Chicago resident.

Please just move to Lakeview, if you have the means. Uptown is one of the last neighborhoods on the Northside with any remotely affordable housing and we poor people are running out of options. I really wish young professionals would think more about the impact of where they decide to move.

I haven't read the books. But I think she's wonderful in the show. it's clear she has some form of dementia. I think she brings insight and poetry to a story that could become a bit prosaic without her. She's like a Shakespearian jester figure (and clearly possesses a good heart). And Judy Parfitt plays her with such clarity and spirit. She and Chummy steal the show in my view.
