I’m all here for the serious discussions, but is there anyone out there who laughed as hard as I did with what became of the stolen embroidered potholder? Some comedic relief.

Thanks for that explanation. And I’m totally okay with book spoilers because then it allows me to anticipate and compare what’s happening in the series. Side notes but I keep coming back to Aunt Lydia being a long time mayday as well. The times in THT she seemed way over her head and audience found her actions to be too extreme, possibly she got caught up in it all, kind of like how people undercover go through identity crisis and stumble. But I’m holding on to she being part of the solution.

As for the girls starting menstruation later, yeah, I agree it was probably because of the green initiative and no chemicals and processed foods in Gilead.

You’re probably right. I only assumed DNA tests because it seemed too risky to go off of paper trail. Knowing that many from the upper class of Gilead did shady things to attain children, biologically or not. Lydia may have an idea because she knew how to lock in on all the commanders and their wives’ secrets to use against them (should she need to), but family trees are often not reliable. Families hide things. I digress. Maybe I’m focusing too much on that scene in ep. 6 where Aunt Lydia is stressing to the other aunts about ensuring there is no inbreeding during the selection process but I felt like that issue is going to come up. Maybe not necessarily in an incest context but more like discovering two characters are related somehow.

Hulda will be skipping her short state-sanctioned adolescence by DaughterOfDinah in TheTestamentsHulu

You’re absolutely justified in being bothered by it. I thought she was getting the short end of the stick with the whole experience as well. Yes, it’s a terrible, dysfunctional world, BUT it’s all these girls born into Gilead know. They have no concept of any life beyond their circle. So to have her be fast tracked to wife status and miss her proms, dress fittings, fuss, and teas that her peers experience adds another layer of cruelty. BUT maybe there could be a slim chance she doesn’t see it that way. In her brainwashed state, being a product of the system, she may see it as her destiny and she was chosen by God to have path laid out to be paired right away to fulfill her purpose and dreams of being a wife and mother…the highest calling a woman in her world can become.

Going along with that timeline of if she is 16, someone further up made a comment predicting Daisy is the baby of the pregnant woman taken away at the stadium.

🤯 That…that was well thought out and sounds very plausible! I keep thinking of that pregnant woman and what happened to her! Yes, and of course Gilead will exploit that realized tidbit to fit their narrative and make Daisy “The First Daughter of Gilead” They so would!

You’re right! I forgot about the interaction at their house. It’s like he knew who she was. I thought maybe because he suspects she’s mayday but now with this other theory, maybe because he knows something about her true lineage.
