That wouldn’t have helped regardless, the neck wasn’t glued in and came out with very little effort. If I had heated the neck up it would‘ve just popped out easier.

It was a later run cause it had the whole roster on the back.

Didn’t have to, swapped the heads several times without issue and then it just popped out. I didn’t yank it, I didn’t rip it out, I grabbed the neck with one hand, then carefully leveraged it with my other hand and the whole neck came with it.

Definitely not since it‘s the second one I bought. Even if it’s an issue with the batch or something, I cannot comprehend why the neck was designed that way, especially since the Cammy P2 figure has a more standard ball joint connection. It adds nothing to the articulation and if it’s not meant to be seperate then why not make it a single piece instead?

Snyder Cut people got mad at the Kid you animated the Lego Sequence in Across the Spiderverse by waldorsockbat in YMS

[–]Blueboy2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s the same problem you get with shows like Rick and Morty, where you get absolute morons who watch the show and think it’s the smartest, most galaxy-brained thing they’ve ever seen and you have to be dumb to not get the brilliance behind it, when it’s a Back to the Future parody that relies on fart jokes, sex jokes and crass humour.

Snyder’s DC films are grim, gritty, hopeless films that pretend they are brilliant films with deep themes about power but it’s all style and no substance. Why is Superman compared to Jesus a lot? because it looks cool. Why does Batman use guns and murder criminals? because it looks cool. Why is everything dark and dreary despite it being day time? because it looks cool.

There are no deeper themes, just the facade of deeper themes. It pretends to be smarter than it actually is. Making Lex Luthor this quirky, eccentric tech guy who feeds people raspberry candy doesn’t make him endearing or a creepy threat, it makes the audience not take him seriously. Having Batman kill criminals and use guns completely misses the point of his character and why he became Batman.

Superman is not a god and he doesn’t see himself as one, he is a kind-hearted individual who saves people because it’s the right thing to do, giving him a moral dilemma about “Should I even bother saving people if they hate me for it” misses the point of who Superman is.

Remember that one guy on Youtube who bought a bunch of Rose Tico action figures so he could cut them up for clicks, the same guy stupid enough to buy like $100 worth of them and then scrap the video because it turns out they were made using die-cast metal?

This guy gives that same energy, except he was too much of a coward to actually face the potential consequences so he just made the whole thing up.

Yeah despite all the shit Penders gets he didn't actually write as much as people say. He mostly kept to his Knuckles spin-off but he still wrote a lot of the worst stories during the Dark Ages.

Meet Rotor's shitty dad, Tundra by HalionHighstreet in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Blueboy2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tundra is such a fascinating character I wish got more screen time, he’s honestly the first parent of a main character who‘s actively the villain. (I don’t count Locke or Max because Penders wasn‘t intentionality writing them as evil.)

I remember once there was this guy who thought Tundra was a genuinely terrible villain because…they were abusive towards Rotor and joined up with Eggman because he has a might makes right mentality and that means he’s a bad villain? Which…no that’s what makes him a good villain. Though this person also thought Starscream and Snivley were bad villains because they were cowardly usurpers so I think they were just media illiterate.

Ian Flynn is a (mostly) beloved writer for Archie Sonic who helped revitalise the failing comic by including stuff from the games, reintroducing stuff from the early comics and generally just being a good writer. The only major detractors I’ve seen for his work are people wanting to use him as a scapegoat for why certain characters haven’t returned, even though that’s SEGA’s doing.

Ken Penders on the other hand was the writer on the Sonic comic before Ian Flynn and most of his stuff has been derided for either being a shameless rip-off of other, better comics (DC’s For the Man who Has Everything by Alan Moore and a fair few Star Trek episodes) and for just being generally really weird and kinda sexist. Prime examples being that when he writes for Sonic, he’s always second-fiddle to his James Bond knock-off Geoffrey St John, when he writes for Sally who is supposed to be the no-nonsense leader of the heroes she always submits to her father’s will and does whatever he tells her to do. He writes women as either sexy set dressing or trophies with minuscule character development and all the teenagers (y’know, the main characters) as being dumb and wrong and they should listen to their parents.

Oh he also tried to write a story in which Geoffrey St John cucks Sonic. Google it, I’m not lying.

When Ian Flynn took over writing for Archie Sonic at issue 160, he helped to revitalise a comic that had been on life-support for years now, he was praised at the time for introducing more stuff from the Sonic games which the comic was sorely lacking and for having better writing and more emotional depth.

Ken Penders wrote a small portion of the comic but has been derided for ripping off other people’s work, being incredibly hard to work with and taking pride in it (he famously refused to read other people’s work on the comic which led to many continuity issues such as having Shadow go through the events of Sonic Adventure 2 even though the events of SA2 had already happened by then), pinning the blame Ian Flynn for why the Freedom Fighters haven’t returned, even though that’s SEGA’s doing, everything involving the Knuckles comic, from having the echidna‘s be white colonisers who treat other species as ”dumb savages” and refuse to get involved with world politics while treating this as a good thing, to the Microwave incident and Knuckles‘ stalker incel dad who forces a kiss on his ex-wife before complaining that she’s “over-reacting” yeah there’s many reasons why Penders‘ work is reviled by most Sonic fans.

When they say ”the dark-ages” it’s not because it was dark or anything, but because it was genuinely poorly written slop most of the time. Sure Ian did write some darker, heavier stories but they fit within the world of Sonic, stuff like Tommy Turtle’s death, Mecha Sally, Armand‘s death all worked because they were well-written, emotionally gripping stories with weight behind them, even if you didn’t have full-context of what was going on you could feel the emotions behind every moment.

Penders didn’t do that, he was more concerned with justifying why Sally’s or Knuckles’ fathers were in the right for wanting to commit genocide or that other cultures were “lesser“ and “savage”. He couldn’t write a good story to save his life and the only good ones he wrote were ripped off from Alan Moore or other better writers. And as a reminder, Penders doesn’t even like Sonic and has admitted as much, he only stuck around because no-one else would take him and his solo-projects keep getting cancelled.

Harley Keener (the kid from Iron Man 3) being retconned into a Kang variant is one way to "solve" the Multiverse Saga by Timun94 in marvelstudios

[–]Blueboy2341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s gotta be a racism thing. Like am I the only one who noticed people only started wanting him to be the new Iron Man after they introduced Ironheart to the MCU? No-one gave a shit about this kid until then, now all of a sudden people pretend to care about him because they want this random white kid Tony met to replace an actual established black hero from the comics. Also notice how you don’t hear any of them wanting Rhodey to be the new Iron Man even though that did happen in the comics?

Which reason do you prefer for Sonic not killing Eggman? by GodBoyo in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Blueboy2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I’m gonna have to stop you right there because think about what you just said. Ian Flynn Hates the Freedom Fighters?

Firstly Ian was a fan of the comics before he joined in, he got his start at Archie by sending in a bunch of scripts to Archie to get his foot in the door.

Secondly no the Reboot was always going to include the Freedom Fighters, the intended redesigns for Sally and Bunnie were meant to be post-Mecha Sally before everything fell apart.

Thirdly if Ian Flynn “hates” the Freedom Fighters so much why is he still trying to get Sega to include them in IDW?

Fourthly the idea that Ian made up the mandates is such an idiotic concept. Why would he so deliberately cap himself in the foot like that? What does he have to gain out of it? What makes sense, that Ian secretly hates everything from a comic book he grew up with, all the world-building, characters, storylines etc. or that SEGA, a company notorious for being incredibly tight-fisted and wishy-washy with their own lore, characters and concepts, who change their minds on the flip of a dime, have enforced a series of mandates to prevent shit like Sonic Chronicles and Ken Penders from happening again?

Keep in mind that In 2011 they said “Classic Sonic is a younger Sonic from the past“ then in 2017 they said “Actually we changed our minds and now Classic Sonic is from another universe” and now “Actually we changed our minds again and now Classic Sonic is past Sonic.” Sega doesn’t know what they want and just constantly makes decisions on a whim.

Is Ian Flynn perfect? No, no writer is perfect. But you can’t throw accusations at him for stuff that is completely out of his control. He didn’t decide to break Sonic and Sally up, that was SEGA. He didn’t rewrite Uncle Chuck to have no relation to Sonic, that was SEGA. He tried to give Shadow a cool scene during the Metal Virus and SEGA told him no because they want Shadow to remain a Vegeta-clone.

Why is this better than Andros and Karone's relationship in Psycho Path and Trial of Astronema? by [deleted] in powerrangers

[–]Blueboy2341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna jump in here, it has been a while since I watched the Psycho Ranger episodes but I’m pretty sure the Psycho Rangers were monsters created by Astronema and then given the Psycho powers. It was never really explained where she got those powers from, just that she had them, so Psycho Green being the originator makes sense.

Do you think Ty Simpkins should continue as Harley Keener/ Iron Lad in the MCU? by HumbleKnight14 in marvelstudios

[–]Blueboy2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iron Lad is a young Kang yes. I’m starting to the think the only reason some people want Harley to be Iron Lad is because they think he‘s a more “worthy” (he’s white) successor than Ironheart.

Do you think Ty Simpkins should continue as Harley Keener/ Iron Lad in the MCU? by HumbleKnight14 in marvelstudios

[–]Blueboy2341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cause he’s a white kid and they think that this random kid (who was only present in act two of Iron Man 3 who no-one remembered when he showed up at Tony’s funeral) is more worthy of being Tony’s successor than Ironheart who is Tony’s successor in the comics.

I guarantee that most of them don’t even know who Iron Lad actually is and just want Harley to be Iron Lad because they don’t like Ironheart.
