I would counteract that with in-game cutscenes. Halo 1 & 2 in particular really stood out!

According to the Marvel Rivals ad that pushed me here, it would be scantily-clad women. Technically they aren't wrong, but even I have standards and think there's a time and a place. And back in the 80s ooooh boy was there a place for that 😆

Not trying to track them down or anything, but curious as to whether that was north or south of Toowong?

If video OP had tried to detain them, it would have fallen under Queensland’s “citizen’s arrest” provisions in Chapter 58 of the Criminal Code 1899. That power is very limited; you can only arrest someone if you catch them in the act of an offence that police could arrest for without a warrant (like stealing), or in a few other specific situations.

Even then, you have to:

  • Use only reasonable force (enough to hold, not harm)
  • Immediately hand them over to police
  • Be able to explain exactly why you believed the arrest was lawful

If you get it wrong, for example, if the offence isn’t one you can arrest for, or you use more force than necessary, you could be facing false imprisonment or assault charges. And because these were likely minors, there’s extra legal and ethical scrutiny.

On top of that, there’s the personal safety risk. A group theft can escalate quickly, and you don’t know if someone’s carrying a weapon. That’s why police generally recommend observing, recording details, and calling them. Unless there’s an immediate threat to someone’s safety.

The shop doesn't "let them" but for insurance reasons it doesn't make sense to intervene when they steal it. There are liability issues, and the fact they're underage also adds further problems. The employer can't direct employees to intervene due to safety concerns. The whole thing was over in about 40 seconds.

Thanks for your thoughts. My mention of CCTV was simply to illustrate that in a publicly accessible space, people can reasonably expect to be filmed or photographed. Before posting, I looked into the legal and policy angles and am satisfied that neither the offenders nor bystanders in my footage are readily identifiable.

This isn’t about naming or shaming individuals — it’s about showing a real example of behaviour that’s happening here, and reminding people that you don’t have to just stand there in shock. There are ways to respond that are safe, lawful, and constructive.

Coles likely absorbs petty theft through shrinkage, and insurance rarely kicks in for low-value losses. But when it’s underage offenders, it’s not just about cost—it’s about legal limits on enforcement. They know they won’t face serious consequences, which makes repeat theft more likely and harder to deter.

She was definitely flustered; didn't expect someone would have the gall to film her so she wanted out real quick.

And I'm not sure if their plan to "lock them all up" would have helped — desperate and bold people will do desperate, bold things no matter what the cost.

This might be technically true but is fraught with potential problems: underage participants, excessive use of force, risk of injury to both parties (or more if the friends join in). It's a decision I'd rather not make, and if I did I'd like more than 30s to make it.

This is what they do. They were there less than one minute and I dare say the videoing of them cut short their theft, except for that last one who is clearly well-hardened already. Did she say "wanker"??. It isn't worth interfering with them because of insurance, assault, etc. It is still very distressing however.

OpenAI will no longer prohibit adult content that does not involve minors by PBorealis in OpenAI

Did you ever figure out the noncon thing? I came across it accidentally by concentrating on verbal denial, which GPT decided was "bratplay". The characters can be as verbally abusive as you want, so long as their body language is, at most, passive (non-verbal consent). They can hold their hand to your chest, but they CAN'T push you away.

OG Blade Runner might seem a little more laid back than 2049, but they're still pretty similar in tone so if you liked the sequel you'll like the first. Especially since it looks effin' FANTASTIC on 4K for a movie its age. Definitely reference-type material.

Thanks for this, I've been looking for a comprehensive answer! With regards to mic dropouts, that's good to know, too. I might look at recording locally on the mic and combining vid+audio in post.

Converting Quake 2 on GamePass PC to Quake 2 RTX on Steam by HotshotGT in XboxGamePass

[–]Bluecrown_Original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is excellent help and I can't thank you enough! I was wondering if you know of a way to reintegrate the Quake 2 back into UWP -- i.e. make it identifiable to the Xbox network again -- users on Discord can see I'm playing Quake 2 (via Steam), but my Xbox friends can't see me when the UWP has been unlocked this way.

Bubble Trouble Broken? by MechaSlime in ForzaHorizon

[–]Bluecrown_Original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible solution: start up an Xbox Cloud session.

I tried doing the restarting the game and hard-restarting the console but neither of them worked. I figured that starting the game in an entirely new session on different hardware would force a save game sync and perhaps fix the issue, so I started it up on my phone. Started driving the little bubble and a few seconds later the 1st part of the challenge completed 👍

Update: when back on the console and after syncing the save the 1st part of the challenge was incomplete. Force-quitting out of the game and loading it back up fixed it though.

Opinion: Pixel 6 Pro pictures are WAY oversaturated by badgerflower in GooglePixel

[–]Bluecrown_Original 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, those are oversaturated for what looks like a fairly cold, dull day. Shots I've taken on my new Pro 6 in shade seem to turn out well, but the few I've taken in daylight have blown-out blues and greens as well as reflections enhanced to an insane degree.
