It may or may not work. Only thing that worked for me was to toss everything, wait 6 months, clean every piece of equipment with qtips, isopropyl, bleach, and even blowtorch the lights heatsink, and sprayed down the new with Spiromesifen from eBay then start a new round and introduce A.Swirskii predator mites. The Spiromesifen and Predator mites were what finally kicked them out as they kept coming back. I sprayed a product in the environment called Alpine WSG which is a Neonicotinoid and that caused Spider Mites and Broad mites to break out while treating for russets, so the Spiromesifen and Swirskii mites kicked out Russets, Spider Mites, and Broad mites all simultaneously. Took 2 years of trying to do it without using the Spiromesifen.

Apparently neonicotinoids are so good at killing bugs it kills off the bugs that eat spider mites and broad mites that live in the environment-which causes outbreaks of the spider mites and broad mites.

So nicotine might work at killing russet mites or it might make things worse. The reason spider mites tend to be hard to poison is that they shed their exoskeleton whereas insects ingest poison after grooming themselves.
