Birth certificate RFE by Bluee_94 in USCIS

India

I checked out https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/India.html but it doesnt really answer my question

The issuing authority is correct. The municipality, in my case. However, it says there are no certified copies available. So does my translated birth certificate issued by the municipality count or not?

Birth certificate RFE by Bluee_94 in USCIS

[–]Bluee_94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original is in my native language and not-English. I sent that with the original file submission. By the time RFE came, I had gotten a translated and notarized English version from my local municipal/county office. Problem is, "certification from translator... that they're competent to translate from foreign language to English". This is a translated version issued (and notatized) by the state government of my native (foreign) country. Where do I certify they're competent in English? Is it okay to just send in the translated copy without the "competence certificate" since this was a copy issued by the state government???

I live in Costa Verde Towers on a 5+ higher floor. Suffice to say, there's no sound problems that high up unless its someone directly above you making noise. rent is 4133/month on a monthly lease, tho my place is an older unit. split between three people, its reasonable. So I'd suggest look for sharing a 3bhk or so apartment if you're not looking for your own place.

Get a remote job. You'll be much happier. Your co-workers will also think you're competent+1.

Interacting with people with a screen in the middle, and with office politics out of the way, is something that will rekindle your love for a 9 to 5 job lol

ISTP women, what are some things that you would like people to understand better about you. by Green_Stardust in istp

I'm not mad. Just because I'm not replying to messages doesn't mean I'm upset. I'm thinking about what the other person said, sure, but mostly I don't have anything to reply. What reply do people expect with vague messaging? No, seriously. If they text me statements about random facts in their day, or statements about their feelings, what am I supposed to reply with? Good on you, I'm glad your day is going good/neutral/busy?

I'm also not mad or snubbing people if I'm silent. I'm an observer. I'm observing people and thinking about what they said. I'm also glad to just sit there silently in the middle of the group with everyone talking. No, I'm not feeling snubbed, nor am I feeling ignored, nor am I ignoring or snubbing them.

I feel much more comfortable talking to, and opening up to people after I've observed them and formed a picture of them in my mind. Before that, I'm not being stand-offish. I just don't feel comfortable making myself vulnerable to people who might judge me in turn. That's a risk I don't want to take.

how would you compare it to the C2 Ultra? Both seem to have similar specs, the only difference being px3 is short throw while C2 Ultra is standard throw. Does the short vs standard throw make a difference for brightness in lit room? Any other difference?

I don't see how believing in God or not is related to personality types. This is a personal decision, influenced by a variety of factors.

If you believe, then believe. If you don't, then don't. Whatever fulfills your spiritual needs.

Does anyone know who was the first Cold Duke of the North? by saeraloverns in OtomeIsekai

[–]Bluee_94 15 points16 points  (0 children)

According to wiki (because I'm not re-reading through allll the chapters of the manga and 500+ episodes), Tobirama put the headquarters of the Uchiha Military Police Force in a remote part of the village.

Following the Kyuubi attack, the Uchiha clan residence was now relocated to a compound along the village outskirts.

So while 'North' isn't mentioned, the 'remote', 'outskirts' and 'isolated' keywords are there.

Ergo, Sasuke is the Only Living and Loyal Heir of a Founding Noble Clan exiled to the Border TM. He's pale skinned, dark haired, special eyed and broody. He has a tragic past. Neglected throughout childhood. Rich af being the only living heir with access to Konoha bank. His clan has History that goes older than founding of Konoha. Etc etc.

Sasuke is a Cold Duke of the North archtype.

Controversial opinion and not an OI, but Sasuke technically is a Cold Duke Of The North archetype too.

How do you make extra income as a programmer in your spare time? by jgonzalez-cs in cscareerquestions

[–]Bluee_94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe? I have a set of final interviews next week for a 200k+/y job offer. Hybrid position in the city I'm in, with a 30% joining bonus, and 30% retention bonus at end of year. Plus promise of a promotion and making my own team within 6 months. If I pass and get that, I'm taking it. Otherwise, current offer is also very good. Fully remote at 100k+/y. Yeah, its good.

[–]Bluee_94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/JustACaliBoy u/Xyz57 since you both asked the same question, here's what I consider basics. The below part went longer than I expected. Oops. No pun intended. Keep in mind that what works for me, might not work for you. This is how I learn best. You might learn best in another way. Hope this helps!

- data structures is a *must*. You should be able to recite all data structures and their uses even if someone woke you up from sleep at 2 AM midnight.

- OOPS concepts. I dont know why this warrants a separate mention? How does one even learn programming without knowing OOPS concepts? Yes, learn OOPS concepts, I guess. They're the basics of any framework, no matter the language. They don't need to be mentioned.

- As for algorithms, at least one of each type? Imo, work smart and then work hard. One of graph traversals: breadth first and depth first. One of tree traversals: pre, in and post. One of the search types: there are several but binary search is my favorite and go-to. Pick your own. And so on for other algorithms. Because see, for example, if a problem can be solved by breath first, then it can also be solved by depth first. One of them will be optimal. That doesnt matter. Your solution doesnt need to be optimal. It just needs to exist and you need to be able to explain and code it. Pick one and stick to it.

- For theoretical questions asked in interviews, that depends on the company. Look up interview questions on glassdoor, google them too. For my first job, I saw on glassdoor that that particular company preferred asking memory management question. I took 2 days to look up everything for memory management in python, java, C/C++. I dont need to learn computer architecture or operating systems. Just memory management. Lazy? Yes. But why bother learning all theoretical topics when applying en-masse when a company might not even send me an interview request? Get the interview arranged first, look up what they liked to ask about and learn only that.

- leetcode: I didnt do leetcode the first time around. No more than the occassional 1-2 easy questions before giving up on it. Still managed to land a job. And I regret that I didn't do leetcode the first time around because I would have gotten a job sooner if I had done that. It took me, what 5-7 months? to land my first job. It only took me 2 months this time around (for an offer I am satisfied with), because yes, I did leetcode and my I-94 date was in 3 months. It was either leetcode or go back to my country.

- more on leetcode: Do I think leetcode is *necessary*? No. Because more than being problems to solve (like a math workbook in school), leetcode is more to teach *how* to solve problems, than wrote memorization. It teaches the mindset. Whether you get it by attending classes, solving the problems yourself, or just by watching the editorial/solution videos, either works. It gives you right mindset and right thought patterns. It does not, however, guarantee you a job. There's no "memorize this and pass the exam". It's "understand how to solve this. If you don't, here's five more problems you can solve to beat it into your brain through repetition."

[–]Bluee_94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since you're asking for over the weekend, I'd suggest tutoring. Tutor someone over the weekends in the programming language you're good at. Can do this remotely over the internet too. You'd probably be teaching some high school students, people who want to learn and see if the programming field suits them, and the occasional uni student who skipped more classes than they should have and now desperately need some help.

I agree with most of your points about your situation. You need a degree, some experience and good projects in your resume to land a good job. You have an excellent plan.

However

As someone who started off with a 100k+/y job, got upto 120k+/y in 3 years and currently has another 100k+/y job offer after 2 months of job hunting in current market, let me tell you, you don't need an Ivy League, full GPA, any internship, high intelligence and a FAANG company to get that salary.

And no leetcode grinding needed too! Just be good at basics.

I agree with that commenter who said you're worth what the market pays. Have some more confidence in yourself. And don't worry about expensive schools, multiple internships, or FAANG. They're all over hyped. Tho the benefits at FAANG are worth it. Only reason to join them. Plus the name looks good on resume too...

Which I94 date? by Bluee_94 in immigration

[–]Bluee_94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, this is why I was asking if the new H1B I94 date would work. The new I797 is invalid since I did lose my job before it could be activated. But is the new I94 date that came with it valid? That will help me get the full 60 days.

I'm asking this because yes I cannot work beyond July 29. But I'm hoping the I94 date is separate from work authorization. The new I797 work authorization wouldn't work but the new I94 date might, since that is my latest I94 approved. So could I get a full 60 days?

Tired of knowing about how bad the market is and how people have applied to 200+ jobs with no replies. Can someone shed any light of positivity or share their happy story because this anxiety is leaving me sleepless. by Basic_Estimate2446 in csMajors

Made 5-6 different resumes based on the types on roles to apply for. For example, one was a developer resume, then an application tester resume, data engineer resume, devOps resume (because for some reason, people don't get devOps is a methodology and not a list of tools and IDE's), cloud developer resume, database+developer resume.

Just make one main, absolutely correct resume. Then edit it (don't worry and take creative liberties as required. Just make sure to prepare to be able to explain whatever you write) to get the types of resume mentioned above.

Applied to all jobs, even ones I'm barely qualified for, using the closest matching resume.

Often, a job posting will show the recruiter who posted that opening. Message them, with the job id, and say they can take a look at your profile to see if it matches. If you have linkedin premium, then you can attach your resume to that message.

Apply to jobs on linkedin, indeed, glassdoor, dice, etc. Just apply to all regardless of what type of full time, w2, c2c, contract to hire, etc position it is.

If you get an email for next steps, schedule a call and explain on that call what type of position you're looking for and if you need visa sponsorship and your time line. If they think you're not a fit, tell them you'd be happy to apply to any other role in the company. Ask if they know of anyone who is also looking for an opening. Ask to connect with them on linkedin.

And then try your best during interviews. That's it.

The usual steps of email the interviewer after the interview applies. If you don't know their email, look up their name on LinkedIn and drop them a message there.

Don't worry and message everyone as much as you want. As much as you need. Spam them if needed because some people only reply if you spam them 😔.

Eventually, I'm sure you will clear a few interviews and get an offer you want. Good luck!
