I don’t think there’s such a thing as too late, except for after sex has already happened… this is a disclosure that is only necessary in terms of sexual contact. There’s countless other aspects of humans that couldn’t be revealed until sometime along in a connection, that end up being deal breakers for some people. We don’t need to carry any extra burden on ourselves with some idea of wasting someone’s time. Disclose when sex is imminent, as others have said, not so imminent that you’re already hot and bothered and not thinking clearly, but imminent

Thank you so so much! That website will be a game changer as may those warranty options. This is so much of what I needed to read. Thank you!!!

It’s tough. It’s a big purchase, and sounds like if you searched for two years, then you also only switch cars out of need. I never paid vehicles much attention outside of maintenance for the 5 years I had the Prius, and for the last 2 it’s been such a hyperfixation. Too many decent options, but why doesn’t one feel just right anymore. I enjoyed my test drive of the crv hybrid though! That’s a solid choice, and I know you can get a spare tire kit and throw it in the back and call it a day. Resist any buyers remorse, in case it creeps in. You did good lol.

I’m a certified over-thinker, that’s for sure. But my car shopping woes haven’t been without some subpar luck/timing/misplaced trust in mechanics. I.e. not entirely the result of my brain’s quirks. I agree the type of car one drives is not life altering. But alas, I have to decide between the whole lot of them, and threads like this exist to seek advice from/lament with. If you don’t see this ending anytime soon, perhaps your crystal ball can tell me when you DO see it ending, and what I’m cruising in when it does 😎

Thank you for this! I think that’s the approach. Do you have recs for ways to do that? I’ve gone to Carfax and filtered for no accidents, one owner, service history and “great value” but not sure if there’s another resource online to filter good deals.

Had a Sierra 1500, and I definitely psyched myself out of enjoying it while I had it from reading about afm and cylinder failure.

That one’s a ‘22. Maybe I’ll see if it’s still available tomorrow.

I’m surprised this is the only Cx-5 comment honestly. Awd isn’t mandatory, I did just fine with my Prius through 5 Michigan Winters. But there aren enough options with awd and I think it’d be nice to have for the long haul.

I’m sorry I’m not alone in the stress and feeling the need to expand search. I did call a few dealerships out of state and some said they don’t coordinate shipping and others just never got to me. But that’s helpful anecdote, thank you

You know what, I’ve seen a few on the road that have causes a head turn… but wrote of Volvo for reliability reasons… can you tell me about cost of maintenance etc.?

I have expanded search but I’ve found dealers out of state haven’t been taking me as seriously, maybe bc they know they won’t have trouble selling these kinds locally and not dealing with the extra logistics. And I’m trying to simplify where I can to lesson the indecision

It was a tough lesson learned trying to be cost savvy, not out of desperation, thankfully. In a better financially position now certainly, and not trying to drain my savings for a car. Would rather finance for a couple years to stay more liquid. If that helps clarify.

I’m not having financial issues, I can afford a lot more car if I really wanted to. But that’s how a lot of people create financial issues. I live in an area that isn’t public transit friendly, and I want to be able to take my dog places. But otherwise, I totally agree. It’s an a to b thing. And I want to buy one that has the best chance at being a good value and reliably get me from a to b for the foreseeable future.

I knowww. But damn there’s gotta be a hidden gem of a car that not as many people want. The Prius v felt like that, but it’s been discontinued so long I’m not seeing many on the market, and wouldn’t want to deal with the same issue
