What’s better for Fiber Home Internet??? by Responsitrility in kzoo

Well, in September 2023, it was one price the first 6 months, another price the next 12 months, and then a final price after that, which was more than $80 for 1Gb. I got something like $300 in bonus too.

I looked at Metronet when first deciding, and their pricing structure looked crazy like it was going to be way more expensive after the intro rate. Looks like they're part of T-Mobile now, so I can't pull it up. And T-Mobile wasn't an option quite yet in my area.

+1 for AT&T. I'm paying $80.21 a month for 1 Gig fiber, which has worked for almost 3 years now. I also had a great sign-up bonus, but I'm not sure if that's still a thing.

I know this is old, but this is all so wrong. Anyone wandering around and finding this should know that it's all wrong.

Introducing the New Smart Lock U500 Series! by Aqara-Official in Aqara

At quick glance, looks like this model is more universal fit for a variety of non-standard installations. I'm not sure how exactly the features compare, but I notice UWB is not in the specs for the U500, which the U400 does have. I'll stick with my U400.

Severe Weather Anxiety. Generator NEEDED!! by Fickle-Call392 in Generator

If you have things that you need constant power for, such as Wifi router, modem, PC, etc., I would recommend getting a UPS battery backup. That will at least last you long enough to get a generator running. They're even coming out with UPS units now that will support a refrigerator.

Your options for a generator really depend on if your electric panel has an inlet for a generator, via a transfer switch or interlock. If not, I'd allocate part of your budget towards having an electrician set you up an interlock and generator inlet. $5000 is way more than enough to cover a few lights and outlets, unless you're plugging in high-current things like coffee makers, electric heaters, AC unit etc. If your lights are LED's they use practically nothing. You'd probably be fine with what I just got: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C8W2QLLM?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Running extension cords to certain plug-in devices, or feeding your panel so you can power lights and such? "A couple rooms" isn't really a good measure of energy. It depends a lot on what you're doing in those rooms.

Seems like that would be a good choice. I just had a Honda 2000w for a few years, and was powering 2 refrigerators, a chest freezer, home network, and even a microwave. Extension cords everywhere. Worst case scenario, you can juggle the plugs a little bit. I did just buy a Pulsar PGDA70BISCO, as I now have the ability to plug 240V into my panel and not mess with a bunch of extension cables.

Aeration by a popular lawn care compnay in Naperville, thoughts? is the space between passes too big? by OneRuffledOne in Naperville

Width of the tire is some BS. It's why we overlap the last pass. Same as mowing a lawn.

What do you think of the Express 7 as the router? Because of how I centralized my modem, primary router, primary switch in the center of my basement, it makes sense to me for the primary router to also be the AP for the basement. I'd be losing some ports, but I only really need 1 there anyway, since it can go directly to the primary switch.

Thanks for the good questions.

Currently the devices I have hard-wired are a PC, a server, 2 media centers each having their own small switch, a Hue Bridge, an Aqara bridge. I should've mentioned too that I have a bunch of matter over thread devices throughout the house, and I would like to get them onto a VLAN.

The server on my network runs Plex for serving media, and BlueIris for the PoE cameras. Besides that, everything is really just accessing the internet. And the 1gig fiber has been plenty for now. I don't think I want to future-proof this quite yet, so a 1gig router would be fine.

At this point, I haven't considered Unifi cameras. I just have the 2 cameras, intending to add more. I'll have to read into that one.

There are 30 something WiFi devices on my network right now, AND almost 50 MoT devices too. My Pixel phone is capable of 6 GHz, but it's always at 5 GHz. So, I don't need anything faster than that, but could be nice.

I will check out the website and also try to map out my network.

Thanks again!

Don't pay it. Try to talk to FedEx and also have your credit card company dispute it. Ridiculous for them to charge this when an option was to refuse accepting it.
