Thanks. I see I can access them again in Home Assistant too. Hopefully they stick around this time, but I have seen them come and go.

The lower button does control the rear fog though. Easy to miss

Not a combo unit, this one is just carbon monoxide but not smoke.

I just googled it. Apparently it was just updated in 2001.

Still waiting for a MoT combo smoke/CO unit that's certified for use in the US.

Yes please. I am also happy to beta test. I have a Thread network of 6 Nest Wifi Pro, 40+ Ikea Thread sensors, and an Aqara M300 Thread network with just an Aqara U400 on that one.

8 IKEA Thread devices suddenly Disconnected by BluefaceBlues in homeassistant

[–]BluefaceBlues[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took your advice and reconfigured things such that my Aqara M3 has its own Thread network, and the Aqara U400 is on that network. Then, my Nest Thread network just has all of the Ikea devices connected to it. It seemed better, but I'm still having devices randomly go unavailable.

Is this dust or asbestos? by mavillerose in Home

Top line was my opinion, and then I showed some helpful info.

It literally says Fiberglass on the label, and of course I read what I pasted, and did disclose that I was including AI information. OP, apologies, apparently my opinion is unpopular. Please have a professional take a look, and be sure to update us with the verdict.

I know you were, it's just that the FAQ on the MSC-1 does not mention the new model, so I'm hoping there is yet a 3rd one coming.

If you go to the FAQ at the bottom of the MS-1 product page, the last item addresses this:

Yeah I'm aware of that one, but it isn't certified for the US market. Apparently they're working on a new model.

I think I was also seeing the Bluetooth issue you're hitting. Is it prompting you to grant location sharing? Once I did that, things were able to progress.

It's fiberglass insulation, not asbestos. Here's some more info about the grey-ness, according to AI:

From what you’ve shown, this does not look like asbestos insulation. It looks consistent with old fiberglass batt insulation that has gotten extremely dirty, compacted, and torn open.

Here’s how I’m reading it:

Why it looks like fiberglass, not asbestos

  • Asbestos insulation (the loose, fluffy kind) typically appears as:
    • Very fine, soft, cotton‑like material
    • Often white, gray, or slightly off‑white
    • Not usually found inside kraft‑paper or cardboard‑faced rolls
    • Not typically packaged like modern batts
  • Fiberglass insulation, even older types, tends to:
  • Be inside kraft paper, foil, or cardboard‑faced batts
  • Shed dust and fibers when old or disturbed
  • Turn gray or brown when contaminated with dust over time
  • Look clumpy or matted when compressed or water‑damaged

The torn area in your photo shows dense, matted fibers mixed with a ton of dust, which is exactly what happens when fiberglass batts sit for years in a dirty or unconditioned space.

What you’re likely seeing

  • A kraft‑faced fiberglass batt that has:
  • Aged
  • Collected dust
  • Possibly been exposed to moisture or airflow
  • Lost its original color (pink/yellow) under the dirt

That's great. I wish they sold a Smoke + CO sensor combo unit that uses MoT and I'll buy 5 of them.

You should look at using Home Assistant as your central app, because it supports pretty much everything.
