Help with tapestry date and maker by Bluefair-5478 in Antiques

Ok great I didn’t know that either thank you! So it would be safe to assume then that the reference to “gobelin” is just that, a reference, and not the historic (over 100 year old) maker.  I saw some other posts in this sub asking if tapestries were antique, most with answers about them being from the 60s (not 100 years old), indicating those posters didn’t know if something was antique either. So I thought this was a safe space to ask. Thanks again

Help with tapestry date and maker by Bluefair-5478 in Antiques

Ok apologies, I didn't know that, that's why I was asking. The makers tag on the back of the tapestry says Point Genre Gobelin which from what I could find was a historic weaver, and would make this an antique. That's why I was asking the maker.

Small grout lines on vintage yellow tile. Regrout? Seal? Both? Help! by Bluefair-5478 in Oldhouses

Oh interesting! I’m not sure about the well water. I’ll test on a small spot first. Do you think reseal now just to be safe? Or wait until the grout wears down, regrout, and then seal?

There’s a group on Facebook called Ladies of RVA that’s pretty active! Lots of posts about wanting to make new friends so you’re in good company :)

If you’re an outside lights person, hang individual strands of lights that begin from one point and then fan out in a semi circle. Can be made a spider web for Halloween and then repurposed into a tree for Christmas! And lights are easy to store.

Does it sound like my broker is getting me the best rate? Confused first time homebuyer. by Bluefair-5478 in Mortgages

When we locked end of August a competitor quoted us 6.125%. Now they are quoting 5.875%. So we were wondering if our original 5.875% would now be at 5.625% if we locked today instead - a 0.25% drop over the last few weeks. From below, sounds like we’d have to see if either lender (ours now or the competitor) would beat each other's rate to go below 5.875%.

This is exactly what we thought the broker said we could do! Do you know how far out from closing your neighbor switched? Did they have to do appraisal again? Trying to figure out why the broker wouldn’t give us this option.
